You're Not Alone (Joe and Jake song)

In February 2016, Joe and Jake were announced as one of the six participants of Eurovision: You Decide , the national final developed by the BBC to select the United Kingdom's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The six competing songs were premièred in The Ken Bruce Show on BBC Radio 2 on 22 February 2016. The national final took place on 26 February at The O2 Forum venue in Kentish Town, London and was hosted by Mel Giedroyc. The show was broadcast live on BBC Four as well as streamed online via the BBC iPlayer and at the official Eurovision Song Contest website eurovision.tv. The duo won the show through a combination of televoting and online voting. They performed the song in the 2nd semi-final on 12 May and the final on 14 May at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, Sweden. Ukraine participated in and won the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "1944" written and performed by Jamala. Ukraine returned to the Eurovision Song Contest after the nation withdrew from the 2015 due to financial and political reasons related to the Russo-Ukrainian War.

"Sunlight" is the debut solo single by Irish singer Nicky Byrne. The song represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 held in Stockholm, Sweden after being internally selected by RTÉ, the Irish broadcaster for the Eurovision Song Contest. The song did not qualify for that year's Grand Final, only earning 46 points, managing a 15th-place finish in the first semi-final.

The song was performed by Destiny Chukunyere, who was due to compete in the 2020 contest with "All of My Love" before the 2020 event's cancellation. The song Destiny would perform at the Eurovision Song Contest, "Je me casse", was also internally selected and was released to the public on 15 March.

The United Kingdom participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song "Embers" written by James Newman, Conor Blake, Danny Shah, Tom Hollings and Samuel Brennan. The United Kingdom participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. British singer-songwriter Sam Ryder represented the country with his song "Space Man", which he co-wrote with Max Wolfgang and Amy Wadge.
