Øyvind Vaksdal (born 19 October 1955 in Kopervik) is a Norwegian politician for the Progress Party.

Kopervik Former Municipality

Kopervik is the largest town on the island of Karmøy in Rogaland county, Norway. It is also the administrative centre of the municipality of Karmøy. It is part of the traditional district of Haugaland. The 4.85-square-kilometre (1,200-acre) town has a population (2014) of 8,215; giving the town a population density of 1,694 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,390/sq mi). The municipality of Karmøy has about 42,000 inhabitants, so this means Kopervik is home to about 20% of the municipal population.

The Progress Party is a political party in Norway. It is the country's third largest political party, and a part of the centre-right government coalition. The current leader of the party is Siv Jensen, who is also serving as Norway's Minister of Finance.

He was elected to the Norwegian Parliament from Rogaland in 1997, and has been re-elected on two occasions. He had previously served in the position of deputy representative during the term 19931997.
