The 1951 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships were organized by the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) and served as the national championships in outdoor track and field for the United States.
The men's edition was held at Edwards Stadium in Berkeley, California, and it took place 22–23 June. The women's meet was held separately at Municipal Stadium in Waterbury, Connecticut, on 12 August. The pentathlon was held on 14 July also at Berkeley.
About 15,000 spectators attended the men's edition, which was one of the largest crowds in AAU history to that point. [1] In the women's competition, Tuskegee Institute won the team title. [2]

Tracy Evans Smith is a former American distance runner. He was a member of the 1968 U.S. Olympic Track and Field Team, competing in the 10,000 meters. He was ranked multiple times by Track & Field News as the No. 1 U.S. 5,000- and 10,000-meter runner in the mid- to late 1960s, and was a six-time AAU National Champion from 1966 to 1973, winning outdoors in the 3-mile, 6-mile and 10,000 meters, and three times in the indoor 3-mile. He was a three-time world record holder in the indoor 3-mile.
Pat Hawkins is a former US national champion sprinter and hurdler, and the former American record holder in the women's 200-meter hurdles.
