Soweto is a township of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa, bordering the city's mining belt in the south. Its name is an English syllabic abbreviation for South Western Townships. Formerly a separate municipality, it is now incorporated in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and is one of the suburbs of Johannesburg.

He was nicknamed "Legs of Thunder" after a champion racehorse that was a character on a South African TV series, and has earned legendary status at Orlando Pirates as a formidable goal poacher in the 1990s. He was part of the 1995 African Champions League winning team.
Senzo Robert Meyiwa was a South African professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper and captain for both Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League, and the South Africa national team. He was shot and killed in a home invasion on 26 October 2014.
