The Vodacom Challenge was an association football pre-season tournament that featured Vodacom-sponsored South African clubs Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs plus from 2006 onwards an invited European club. Prior to 2006, the competition consisted of the two Soweto giants and two invited African clubs.

Contents

Tottenham Hotspur became the first non-African team to win the competition in 2007.

According to the tournament promoter, Jabu Mathibela the tournament was cancelled due to "time constraints" before the 2012 season would have commenced. [1]

FC Saint-Éloi Lupopo is a Congolese professional football club based in Lubumbashi. Their home games are played at Stade Kibassa Maliba.

The Vodacom Ligue 1 is the top division of the Congolese Association Football Federation, the governing body of football in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was created in 1958. The Vodacom Challenge celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2009 with the English Premier League side Manchester City touring South Africa and playing against two local PSL clubs, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs. Kaizer Chiefs defeated star-studded Manchester City in the final to lift the title.

The 2010 CAF Champions League Final was the final of 2010 CAF Champions League. TP Mazembe of the Democratic Republic of the Congo beat Espérance ST from Tunisia 6–1 on aggregate to win their fourth title in the competition, and their second in a row. They also qualified to the quarter-finals for the 2010 FIFA Club World Cup.

Patou Kabangu is a Congolese professional who plays as a midfielder for Saint-Éloi Lupopo. He represented the DR Congo national team internationally.

The Vodacom Challenge celebrated its 11th anniversary in 2011 with the English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur touring South Africa and playing against two local PSL clubs, Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs.

The 2011 Linafoot season was the 50th season of Top League Linafoot in DR Congo. Defending champions are AS Vita from Kinshasa. Seventeen teams entered the competition. TP Mazembe won the championship.

The 2012 Linafoot season, the top division of the Congolese Association Football Federation, was the 51st edition since its establishment. It began on 12 February 2012 and ended on 20 November 2012. During the mid-season break it was decided the second half of the season would consist of 10 rounds of matches only; 3 entire rounds were cancelled.
