The 1997 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament were held in Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Manila, Philippines from 7-13 April 1997. [1] [2]
In the team event, China clinched the boys' and girs' team event after beat Indonesia in the final with the score 3–2 and 5–0 respectively. [3] The boys' team bronze goes to Malaysia and South Korea, while the girls' team bronze goes to Japan and South Korea. [4]

Sony Dwi Kuncoro is a badminton singles player from Indonesia. He was the 2004 Olympic bronze medalist, two-time World Championships medalist and three-time Asian Champion. He reached a career high as world number 3 in October 2003.

He won a total of 43 Superseries titles, 37 in the men's doubles, the most of any doubles player in one discipline, and 6 in mixed doubles. He was ranked world number 1 in men's doubles for 117 consecutive weeks with his last partner, Yoo Yeon-seong.

Akane Yamaguchi is a Japanese badminton player who specializes in singles play. She was in the winning Japanese team at the Asian Junior Championships in 2012, and won various women's singles titles afterwards. Significantly, she won the World Junior Championships in 2013 and 2014, the Asian Junior Championships in 2014, and the Asian Championships in 2019. With her, Japan won by the maximal 3–0 in 2017, 2018 and 2020 Asia Team Championships, and broke 37 dry years for Japan in the Uber Cup in 2018.
The 2014 Badminton Asia Junior Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. It was held in Taipei, Taiwan from February 16 to February 23, 2014. This is the second time for this event has been held in Taipei after being hosted by the city in 2001. This year, over 250 top badminton players from more than 20 different countries participated in the competition.
Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is an Indonesian badminton player. He first rose to prominence when he won the bronze medal at the 2018 Asian Games. At the 2020 Olympics, he won bronze in the men's singles event. He became the first Youth Olympic badminton medalist to win a medal at the Olympics, having also won bronze in 2014. Ginting was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.
He Bingjiao is a Chinese badminton player. She began to receive intensive badminton training at the Suzhou Junior Sports School, when she was only 7 years old. Five years later, she was sent to study in Nanjing and for tougher training there. The junior already competed in the senior level, and made her first senior international debut at the 2013 Vietnam Open. In 2014 she competed at the Summer Youth Olympics, winning a gold medal in the girls' singles and a bronze in the mixed doubles event.
The 2005 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament were held in Tennis Indoor Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia from 11–17 July. In the team event, South Korean boys', and the Chinese girls' team won the gold medal respectively. In the individual event, China won three gold medal in the boys' singles, girls' singles and girls' doubles event, while South Korea won two gold medal in the boys' and mixed doubles.
The 2000 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Nishiyama Park Gymnasium, Kyoto, Japan from 21–27 July and organized by the Kyoto Badminton Association. 21 countries competed at this competition, and in the end of the tournament, China clinched all the titles.
The 1999 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Yangon, Myanmar from 11–17 July. This tournament organized by the Asian Badminton Confederation, and there were 24 countries and regions with more than 350 players and officials participated in the Championships.

This tournament was held in Jakarta, Indonesia between 22–30 July 2017. There were 23 countries across Asia competing in this tournament.
The Boys' Doubles tournament of the 2012 Asian Junior Badminton Championships was held from July 3–7 in Gimcheon, South Korea. The defending champion of the last edition were Lin Chia-yu and Huang Po-jui from Chinese Taipei. The bronze medals goes to the first seeded Lee Chun Hei / Ng Ka Long of Hong Kong and unseeded players Alfian Eko Prasetya / Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo of Indonesia, after defeated in the semifinals round. Another Indonesian pair Arya Maulana Aldiartama / Edi Subaktiar emerged as the champion after beat Wang Chi-lin / Wu Hsiao-lin of Chinese Taipei in the finals with the score 17–21, 22–20, 21–10.
Jiang Shan is a former Chinese badminton player. Jiang played for the Guangxi team in the national event, and was the runner-up in the men's doubles event at the National Championships tournament. He was the silver and bronze medalists at the 1998 IBF World Junior Championships in the boys' and mixed doubles event respectively. Jiang competed at the 1997 Asian Junior Championships, winning a gold in the boys' team and a bronze in the mixed doubles event. He also captured two gold medals in 1998, in the boys' team and mixed doubles event, and a silver medal in the boys' doubles.
Han Jingna is a Chinese retired badminton player who rated among the world's leading women's singles players in the 1990s. Han began practicing badminton at the age of seven. Two years later, she trained at the sports school in Wuhan. She was selected to join the Hubei team in 1988 when she was thirteen, and to join the national team in 1989. She was part of national teams that clinched the 1995 Sudirman Cup in Lausanne, and the 1998 Uber Cup in Hong Kong, She won the silver medal for women's singles at the 1995 World Championships by upsetting South Korea's Bang Soo-hyun in the semifinals before falling to Chinese teammate Ye Zhaoying in the finals. Han also earned a singles bronze medal at the next World Championships in 1997. She competed in the women's singles competition at the 1996 Olympic Games but was eliminated in the quarterfinals round by the defending Olympic gold medalist Susi Susanti of Indonesia.
The 1997 Badminton Asia Cup; officially called as Sampoerna (King) Asia Cup 1997 was the 1st edition of the Badminton Asia Cup. It was held in Istora Senayan tennis indoor stadium, Jakarta, Indonesia from 19 February to 23 February with total prize money of 150,000 US Dollars. Tournament consisted of total of three matches in every team encounter, with format of Men's singles, Men's doubles and a second Men's singles match. Countries participated in this tournaments were Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong & Japan. Winning team & top seeded Indonesia got US$80,000 while runner-up Malaysian team got US$40,000. Third placed Chinese Taipei got a total of US$20,000 and 4th ranked South Korea bagged a total prize of US$10,000.
