The 1998 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament were held at the Kuala Lumpur Badminton Stadium, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 15-21 June 1998. [1]
China boys' and girls' team sweep the title after beat Malaysia 3–2 and South Korea 5–0 respectively. The Indonesian and Taiwanese boys' and girls' finished in third place. [2] In the individuals event, Chien Yu-hsiu surprised the competition when he captured the boys' singles gold. China led by top-seed Zhang Yi, Indonesia, Korea and Malaysia were among the favourites to go home with the coveted title. In the girls' singles, China dominated event from the quarterfinals. Hu Ting won the girls' singles title after beat her teammate Gong Ruina, 11–6 and 11–2, but Gong who was partnered with Huang Sui won the girls' doubles title after defeat the Korean pair Lee Hyo-jung and Jun Woul-sihk, 15–13 and 15–8. Huang completes her success by winning her second title in the mixed doubles event with Jiang Shan. The boys' doubles gold goes to Chan Chong Ming and Teo Kok Seng of Malaysia. [3]

Chien Yu-hsiu is a former badminton player from the Republic of China. Chien graduated from the National Taiwan Sport University and now works as junior coach in Hsinchu. He was the silver medalist at the 1996 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event partnered with Huang Shih-chung, and the champion at the 1998 Asian Junior Championships in the boys' singles event. Chien won the senior international tournament at the 2003 U.S. Open. He competed at the 1998 Asian Games, and 2004 Summer Olympics.
Sang Yang is a retired Chinese badminton player and former Olympian from Zhejiang.
Lee Hyo-jung is a South Korean former badminton player.
Eny Widiowati is an Indonesian retired badminton player.
The 2002 IBF World Junior Championships was an international badminton tournament held in Pretoria, South Africa. China team won the overall titles after clinched the mixed team, boys' and girls' singles, and also the girls' and mixed doubles titles. The boys' doubles title goes to Korean pair.
The 2013 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. It was held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia from 7–14 July 2013.
The 2014 Badminton Asia Junior Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. It was held in Taipei, Taiwan from February 16 to February 23, 2014. This is the second time for this event has been held in Taipei after being hosted by the city in 2001. This year, over 250 top badminton players from more than 20 different countries participated in the competition.
The 2005 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament were held in Tennis Indoor Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia from 11–17 July. In the team event, South Korean boys', and the Chinese girls' team won the gold medal respectively. In the individual event, China won three gold medal in the boys' singles, girls' singles and girls' doubles event, while South Korea won two gold medal in the boys' and mixed doubles.
The 2001 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Taipei Gymnasium, Taipei, Taiwan from 8–14 July. South Korea won four titles in the individuals event in the girs' singles, boys' doubles, girls' doubles and mixed doubles event, and the boys' singles title won by the Indonesian player. Malaysia and South Korea clinched the boys' and girls' team event respectively.

The 2000 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Nishiyama Park Gymnasium, Kyoto, Japan from 21–27 July and organized by the Kyoto Badminton Association. 21 countries competed at this competition, and in the end of the tournament, China clinched all the titles.
The 1999 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Yangon, Myanmar from 11–17 July. This tournament organized by the Asian Badminton Confederation, and there were 24 countries and regions with more than 350 players and officials participated in the Championships.

Dong Fang is a former Chinese badminton player from Shashi, Hubei. Dong represented her country at the 1998 Asian Junior Championships winning a gold in the girls' team event, and two bronze medals in the girls' singles and doubles event. She also claimed the bronze medal in the girls' singles at the 1998 World Junior Championships. She won the senior international tournament at the 2000 German Open, beating her compatriot from Hubei, Hu Ting in straight games. Dong reached the semi-final round at the 2001 Asian Championships, but defeated by Wang Chen of Hong Kong, clinched the bronze medal.
Jiang Shan is a former Chinese badminton player. Jiang played for the Guangxi team in the national event, and was the runner-up in the men's doubles event at the National Championships tournament. He was the silver and bronze medalists at the 1998 IBF World Junior Championships in the boys' and mixed doubles event respectively. Jiang competed at the 1997 Asian Junior Championships, winning a gold in the boys' team and a bronze in the mixed doubles event. He also captured two gold medals in 1998, in the boys' team and mixed doubles event, and a silver medal in the boys' doubles.
Joanne Quay Swee Ling is a Malaysian former badminton player. Quay was the gold medalist at the 1998 World Junior Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Chan Chong Ming. She and Chan also won the silver medal in Asian Junior Championships. She was part of the national team that won the women's team silver medal at the 1998 Commonwelath Games. Quay left the Badminton Association of Malaysia in 2004 and joined the Kuala Lumpur Racquet Club (KLRC). She then went on to study at the Leeds Metropolitan University majoring in sports business management. As a Leeds Met Carnegie, she took part in badminton competition, and at the 2009 BUCS Championships, she won double titles in the women's and mixed doubles event. Quay now works as BAM’s high performance manager.
Huang Shih-chung is a former badminton player from the Republic of China. He was the silver medalist at the 1996 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event partnered with Chien Yu-hsiu. In the senior international tournament, he firstly took the podium as a men's doubles runner-up at the 1997 Spanish International. At the IBF Grand Prix tournament, he was the semifinalists at the 2002 U.S. Open and 2004 Thailand Open. He also participated at the World Championships in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005 and in 2006. Huang occupied the men's doubles title at the 2006 Victorian International alongside Chien Yu-hsun. Educated at the National Taiwan Sport University, he won the men's doubles gold at the 1998, 2000, and 2006 World University Championships, also the mixed and men's doubles silver in 1998 and 2002 respectively. He was part of the national men's team that clinched the bronze medal at the 1997 East Asia Games and Asia Cup.

It was held in Stadium Negara, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from September 3 to September 5 with total prize money of 136,000 US Dollars. At the end of competitions, China took titles from four disciplines; Both the singles and Women's & Mixed doubles, while Indonesia won Men's doubles discipline.
