The 2014 Badminton Asia Junior Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. It was held in Taipei, Taiwan from February 16 to February 23, 2014. This is the second time for this event has been held in Taipei after being hosted by the city in 2001. This year, over 250 top badminton players from more than 20 different countries participated in the competition. [1]

Tournament

The 2014 Badminton Asia Junior Championships organized by the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association and Badminton Asia Confederation. This tournament consists of mixed team competition, which was held from 16 – 19 February , as well as the five individual events started from 19–23 February. [2]

Venue

This tournament was held at Taipei Gymnasium. [3]

Medalists

In the mixed team event, China defended their title by sweeping South Korea 3–0 in the final. Japan and Chinese Taipei team finished in the semi-finals. [4] In the individuals event, China secured four titles, by winning the boys' singles, boys' doubles, girls' doubles and mixed doubles. The girls' singles title goes to Japanese player. [5]

Chien Yu-hsiu is a former badminton player from the Republic of China. Chien graduated from the National Taiwan Sport University and now works as junior coach in Hsinchu. He was the silver medalist at the 1996 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event partnered with Huang Shih-chung, and the champion at the 1998 Asian Junior Championships in the boys' singles event. Chien won the senior international tournament at the 2003 U.S. Open. He competed at the 1998 Asian Games, and 2004 Summer Olympics.

Liu Yuchen is a Chinese badminton player. He was the men's doubles World Champion in 2018, two-time Asian Champion in 2017 and 2018, and also a silver medalist at the 2020 Summer Olympics partnered with Li Junhui. Liu was part of the national team that won the 2018 Asian Games, 2018 Thomas Cup, and 2019 Sudirman Cup. Together with Li, he achieved the men's doubles world number 1 in 6 April 2017, and occupied the top ranking for ten weeks.

Lu Ching-yao is a Taiwanese badminton player. He was the silver medalist at the 2011 Asian Junior Championships, and 2015 Summer Universiade. He won his first senior international title at the 2014 Singapore International Series tournament in the men's doubles event partnered with Huang Po-jui. Lu educated at the University of Taipei, department of Ball Sports.

Huang Po-jui is a Taiwanese badminton player. In 2011, he won the gold medal at the Asian Junior Championships in the men's doubles event partnered with Lin Chia-yu. He also won the silver medal at the World Junior Championships.

Lin Chia-yu is a Taiwanese badminton player. In 2011, he won the gold medal at the Asian Junior Championships in the men's doubles event partnered with Huang Po-jui. He also won the silver medal at the World Junior Championships.

The 2005 Asian Junior Badminton Championships is an Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament were held in Tennis Indoor Senayan, Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Jakarta, Indonesia from 11–17 July. In the team event, South Korean boys', and the Chinese girls' team won the gold medal respectively. In the individual event, China won three gold medal in the boys' singles, girls' singles and girls' doubles event, while South Korea won two gold medal in the boys' and mixed doubles.

The 2000 Asian Junior Badminton Championships were held in Nishiyama Park Gymnasium, Kyoto, Japan from 21–27 July and organized by the Kyoto Badminton Association. 21 countries competed at this competition, and in the end of the tournament, China clinched all the titles.

Zhang Wei is a former Chinese badminton player. He was the men's doubles champion at the 2004 National Championships partnered with Sang Yang. He was selected to join the national junior team competed at the 2005 Asian Junior Championships in Jakarta, and won three silver medals. He then won the bronze medal in the senior level at the 2006 Asian Championships in the mixed doubles event partnered with Yu Yang. Zhang also won a silver and bronze medal at the 2007 Summer Universiade in the mixed team and men's doubles event.

Man Wei Chong is a Malaysian badminton player who specializes in doubles event. He was one of the compatriots of the Malaysian squad that won the silver medals in 2016 and 2017 BWF World Junior Championships.

Tsai Pei-ling is a Taiwanese badminton player. She was part of the national junior team that won the bronze medal at the 2004 Asian Junior Championships in the girls' team event. She graduated at the University of Taipei. Tsai was the champion at the Kaohsiung International tournament in the women's doubles event partnered with Chou Chia-chi. At the Grand Prix tournament, she finished as the women's doubles runner-up at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Feng Chen is a retired Chinese badminton player. She was selected to join the Chinese junior team competed at the 2002 and 2004 Asian Junior Championships, and has collected 2 gold medals from the girls' team event, a gold in the mixed doubles, and a silver in the girls' doubles. Feng then won the mixed team gold medal at the 2004 World Junior Championships, and also clinched the silver medal in the girls' doubles event. In the senior international level, she was the runners-up at the 2004 French and Polish International tournaments. Feng also was the mixed doubles semifinalist at the World Grand Prix tournament, in 2005 China Masters partnered with He Hanbin. At the 2006 World University Championships in China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, she claimed three gold medals in the women's doubles, mixed doubles, and team event.

Liu Peixuan is a Chinese badminton player from Changsha, Hunan. He was selected to join national junior team competed at the 2009 Asian Junior Championships, winning two silver medals in the mixed doubles and team event. Liu later competed at the World Junior Championships, helped the team clinch the mixed team title, and won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles event. He won the senior international title at the 2010 India Grand Prix in the mixed doubles event partnered with Tang Jinhua.

Liu Xuanxuan is a Chinese badminton player from Hunan. She was part of the national junior team that won the mixed team title at the 2017 and 2018 World Junior Championships and also at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships. In the individual junior event, she was the girls' doubles champion at the 2018 World Junior Championships partnered with Xia Yuting.Liu won her first senior international title at the 2018 Lingshui China Masters in the mixed doubles event partnered with Guo Xinwa.

Wang Chang is a Chinese badminton player. Born in Ningbo, Zhejiang, Wang who trained in Ningbo training centre, entered the provincial team in 2015, and in the national team in 2017. After being selected to join the national team, he started his partnership with Di Zijian in the men's doubles discipline. He made a debut in the international tournament at the 2017 Badminton Asia Junior Championships, and claimed the gold medal in the boys' doubles event. He also participated at the 2017 World Junior Championships where he helped the team to take the Suhandinata Cup, and he also won the silver medal in the boys' doubles event. In 2018, he won the boys' doubles and mixed team titles at the Asia and World Junior Championships.

Di Zijian is Chinese badminton player. Born in Liaoyang, Liaoning, he started practicing badminton at the age of 10 and entered the Liaoning team when he was 14. Di was selected to join the national youth team in 2017, then became the national second team players at the beginning of 2018. He was two times boys' doubles gold medalists at the Asian Junior Championships in 2017 and 2018, also won the mixed team title with the national junior team in 2018. At the World Junior Championships, he helped the team clinch the gold medal in 2017 and 2018, and won the silver medals in the boys' doubles event in 2017 and 2019. He also showed his achievement in the senior tournament level by reaching the final at the 2018 Lingshui China Masters and finished as the runner-up in the men's doubles event. Di won his first BWF World Tour title in 2019 SaarLorLux Open.

Xia Yuting is a Chinese badminton player from Jiangsu. She was part of the national junior team that won the mixed team title at the 2017 and 2018 World Junior Championships and also at the 2018 Asian Junior Championships. In the individual junior event, she was the girls' doubles champion at the 2018 World Junior Championships partnered with Liu Xuanxuan.

Huang Shih-chung is a former badminton player from the Republic of China. He was the silver medalist at the 1996 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event partnered with Chien Yu-hsiu. In the senior international tournament, he firstly took the podium as a men's doubles runner-up at the 1997 Spanish International. At the IBF Grand Prix tournament, he was the semifinalists at the 2002 U.S. Open and 2004 Thailand Open. He also participated at the World Championships in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2005 and in 2006. Huang occupied the men's doubles title at the 2006 Victorian International alongside Chien Yu-hsun. Educated at the National Taiwan Sport University, he won the men's doubles gold at the 1998, 2000, and 2006 World University Championships, also the mixed and men's doubles silver in 1998 and 2002 respectively. He was part of the national men's team that clinched the bronze medal at the 1997 East Asian Games and Asia Cup.

Su Li-yang is a Taiwanese badminton player.
