The 2018 Badminton Asia Junior Championships is the 21st edition of the Asia continental junior championships to crown the best U-19 badminton players across Asia. This tournament was held in Bintaro, Jakarta, Indonesia, between 14 and 22 July 2018. [1]

Tournament

The 2018 Badminton Asia Junior Championships was organized by the Badminton Association of Indonesia, sanctioned by Badminton Asia. [2] This tournament consists of team and individual events. There were 14 teams competing in the mixed team event, which was held from 14–17 July, while the individual events were held from 18–22 July. [3] There were 244 athletes from 18 countries across Asia competing in this tournament. [4]

This international tournament was held at Jaya Raya Sport Hall Training Center in South Tangerang, Indonesia. [2]

Team event

China emerged as the champion after winning three matches against Japan in the final. [5] This was China's eighth title since the junior team championships became a mixed team event in 2006. [6] Indonesia and Malaysia finished as the semifinalists, and took the bronze medals. [7]

Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club. She won the gold medal in the mixed doubles at the 2017 Asian Junior Championships, and in the women's doubles at the 2021 SEA Games.

Rian Swastedian is an Indonesian badminton player from the Jaya Raya badminton club. He was part of the Indonesia Junior team that won the bronze medal at the 2013 Asian Junior Championships. Swastedian was promoted to join the national team in 2014. He was the mixed doubles champion at the 2015 Vietnam International Series tournament partnered with Masita Mahmudin.

Pitha Haningtyas Mentari is an Indonesian badminton player from Jaya Raya Jakarta badminton club. She won the gold medal at the 2017 World Junior Championships, and bronze medals at the 2019 and 2021 SEA Games in the mixed doubles with Rinov Rivaldy. Mentari was also a member of the Indonesian women's team that won the silver medal in 2019 and 2021 SEA Games.

Leo Rolly Carnando is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with PB Djarum club. He was a World Junior Champions in the mixed doubles in 2018 and in the boys' doubles in 2019, also won double gold at the 2019 Asian Junior Championships in the boys' and mixed doubles events. Carnando was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.

Daniel Marthin is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Djarum club since 2015. He was a champion at the 2019 Asian and World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles event. Marthin was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.

Putri Kusuma Wardani is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Exist Jakarta club.

Stephanie Widjaja is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Jaya Raya Jakarta club. She was part of the national junior team that won the first Suhandinata Cup for Indonesia in 2019 BWF World Junior Championships. She also featured in the Indonesian women's winning team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships.

Lanny Tria Mayasari is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Jaya Raya Satria Yogyakarta club. She was part of the Indonesian women's winning team at the 2022 Asia Team Championships.
