The 1999 Grand Prix of Mosport was an American Le Mans Series professional sports car race held at Mosport International Raceway near Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada from June 25 to the 27, 1999. The race was the third round of the inaugural American Le Mans Series season, replacing the former Professional SportsCar Racing Championship that previously held the Grand Prix beginning in 1975. The race marked the 14th IMSA / Professional SportsCar Racing sanctioned sports car race held at the facility.
The race marked the maiden win for the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S driven by Johnny O'Connell and Jan Magnussen for Panoz Motor Sports. It was the first front-engine sportscar overall win at a major event since the 1960s. [1] Teammates David Brabham and Éric Bernard in the #1 Panoz finished second, while Team Rafanelli drivers Érik Comas and Mimmo Schiattarella took third overall in the Riley & Scott Mk III.
After their recent victory at the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans, the event was also set to feature the BMW V12 LMR of BMW Motorsport. After qualifying third and fourth behind the Panoz entries, the team withdrew from the race citing safety concerns at the track. [2] Following offseason upgrades to Mosport, the team returned to the track for the 2000 edition of the race.
After back to back 24 Hours of Le Mans class victories in 1998 and 1999 and FIA GT Championships in 1997 and 1998, Dodge Viper Team Oreca debuted their Dodge Viper GTS-R in the American Le Mans Series at Mosport, taking the GTS class victory with drivers Olivier Beretta and David Donohue.
Alex Job Racing took the GT class win with drivers Cort Wagner and Dirk Müller in a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR. [3]
The race was broadcast across North America on CNBC with Joel Meyers and Bill Adam calling the race.

The American Le Mans Series (ALMS) was a sports car racing series based in the United States and Canada. It consisted of a series of endurance and sprint races, and was created in the spirit of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
David Philip Brabham is an Australian racing driver and one of the most successful and experienced specialists in sports car racing. He has won three international Sports Car series and is one of four Australians to have won the Le Mans 24 Hour sports car race, winning the event in 2009. Brabham won the American Le Mans Series in 2009 and 2010. He also competed in Formula One, racing for the Brabham and Simtek teams in 1990 and 1994, respectively. Brabham is the youngest son of three-time Formula One world champion Sir Jack Brabham, brother to Geoff Brabham and Gary Brabham. He is also brother-in-law to Mike Thackwell, father to Sam Brabham and uncle to Matthew Brabham.
Panoz is an American manufacturer of luxury sports automobiles founded in 1989 as Panoz Auto Development by Dan Panoz, son of Don Panoz. The company has also been extensively involved in professional racing, and designs, engineers and builds its own race cars. Panoz products have included the Panoz Roadster and AIV Roadster, the Panoz Esperante, and the Panoz Avezzano.
Jyrki Juhani Järvilehto, better known as "JJ Lehto", is a Finnish racing driver. He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in 1995 and 2005. He is also a former Formula One driver.
The Audi R8 is a Le Mans Prototype sports-prototype race car introduced in 2000 for sports car racing as a redevelopment of their Audi R8R and Audi R8C used in 1999. In its class, it is one of the most successful racing sports cars having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005, five of the six years it competed in total. The Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S was a Le Mans Prototype built for Panoz in 1999. The car was a successor to the Esperante GTR-1 which had competed in the Grand Tourer categories internationally. Following competition in the American Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans until 2001, the car was replaced by the Panoz LMP07.
The Panoz LMP07 was a Le Mans prototype built in late 2000 for Panoz for competition in the American Le Mans Series. The car was designed as a successor to the Panoz LMP-1 Roadster-S which had competed since 1999. Although retaining the unusual format of having the engine in front of the cockpit, the LMP07 was quickly found to be lacking the capabilities of its predecessor, forcing Panoz to abandon it and return to the LMP-1 Roadster-S. The LMP07 would survive in the hands of privateers until 2003.

The 2009 Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring was the 57th running of the 12 Hours of Sebring and the opening round of the 2009 American Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Sebring International Raceway, Florida on March 21, 2009. Three new cars made their debut at Sebring: Audi's diesel R15 TDI, Acura's first LMP1 entry the ARX-02a, and the return of the BMW M3 to the GT2 category. It was also the last time GT1 category raced at the event.
The 2010 Grand Prix of Mosport presented by Mobil 1 was the penultimate round of the 2010 American Le Mans Series season. It took place at Mosport International Raceway on August 29, 2010. The race marked the 100th ALMS race that David Brabham has competed in. As a result, the Patrón Highcroft team changed the car's number to No. 100 from No. 1 to mark the occasion.
The Chevrolet Grand Prix is an annual IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race held every July at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, Canada. The race originated in 1975 and is currently a two hour and forty minute race in order to fit the event into a television-friendly package. Previous editions of the Grand Prix were part of the World Sportscar Championship, the American Le Mans Series and the IMSA GT Championship.
