The first Lumbini Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 87 members were elected to the assembly, 52 of whom were elected through direct elections and 35 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 4 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Shankar Pokharel from the CPN (UML) and Kul Prasad KC from the CPN (Maoist Centre) served as chief ministers during the term of the assembly. The Nepal Communist Party, abbreviated NCP is a defunct communist party which existed in Nepal from 2018 to 2021. It was founded on 17 May 2018, from the unification of two leftist parties, Communist Party of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal. The unification was completed by the Party Unification Coordination Committee, after eight months of negotiation. The two predecessor parties subsequently dissolved, making way for the new united party. The party retained the electoral symbol of the CPN (UML), the sun.

The Koshi Provincial Assembly also known as the Koshi Pradesh Sabha, is the unicameral legislature of Koshi Province, one of the seven provinces in Nepal. The assembly is seated at the provincial capital at Biratnagar in Morang District at the District Coordination Committee Office. The assembly has 93 members of whom 56 are elected through first-past-the-post voting and 37 are elected through proportional representation. The term of the assembly is 5 years unless dissolved earlier.

Shankar Pokharel was sworn in as Chief Minister of Lumbini Province on 14 February 2018. Here is the list of ministers. This government has been at to fall till 11 August 2021 as ruling party of federal level, Nepali Congress and third largest party in assembly, CPN(Maoist centre) collision has reached majority with a common understanding. Shankar Pokharel resigned on 11 August 2021.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Nepalese general election</span>

General elections were held in Nepal on 20 November 2022 to elect the 275 members of the House of Representatives. There were two ballots in the election; one to elect 165 members from single-member constituencies via FPTP, and the other to elect the remaining 110 members from a single nation-wide constituency via party-list proportional representation.

The chief minister of the Lumbini Province is the head of government of Lumbini Province. The chief minister is appointed by the governor of the province according to Article 167 of the Constitution of Nepal. The chief minister remains in office for five years or until the provincial assembly is dissolved, and is subject to no term limits, given that they have the confidence of the assembly.

The Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) (Nepali: नेपाल कम्युनिष्ट पार्टी (एकीकृत-समाजवादी), romanized: Nēpāla kamyuniṣṭa pārṭī (Ēkīkr̥ta-Samājavādī)), abbreviated as CPN (Unified Socialist) is a political party in Nepal led by former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal. As of July 2023, the party leads Socialist Front and is an important ally in the governing coalition.

The 2023 Speaker of the Koshi Provincial Assembly election was held on January 12, 2023 to elect the speaker of the Koshi Provincial Assembly. However nominations have been fixed for the election from 3pm to 5pm and CPN, politician Baburam Gautam who had been nominated in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, was the only candidate to file the nomination for the post.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2022 Kathmandu municipal election</span> Nepalese local elections

Municipal election for Kathmandu took place on 13 May 2022, with all 162 positions up for election across 32 wards. The electorate elected a mayor, a deputy mayor, 32 ward chairs and 128 ward members. An indirect election will also be held to elect five female members and an additional three female members from the Dalit and minority community to the municipal executive.

At the end of 2020, a major split in the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) revived the Communist Party of Nepal and the Communist Party of Nepal.

The first Koshi Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 93 members were elected to the assembly, 56 of whom were elected through direct elections and 37 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 5 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Sher Dhan Rai and Bhim Acharya served as chief ministers from CPN and Rajendra Kumar Rai served as chief minister from CPN during the term of the assembly. Pradeep Kumar Bhandari served as the speaker of the assembly and Saraswati Pokharel served as deputy speaker.

The first Bagmati Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections in Nepal. 110 members were elected to the assembly, 66 of whom were elected through direct elections and 44 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 1 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Dormani Poudel and Astalaxmi Shakya served as the chief ministers from the CPN (UML) and Rajendra Prasad Pandey served as chief minister from CPN during the term of the assembly. Sanu Kumar Shrestha served as the speaker of the assembly and Radhika Tamang served as the deputy speaker.

The first Gandaki Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 60 members were elected to the assembly, 36 of whom were elected through direct elections and 24 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 4 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Prithvi Subba Gurung from the CPN (UML) and Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel from the Nepali Congress served as chief ministers during the term of the assembly. Netra Nath Adhikari served as the speaker of the assembly and Srijana Sharma served as the deputy speaker.

The first Karnali Provincial Assembly was elected by the 2017 provincial elections. 40 members were elected to the assembly, 24 of whom were elected through direct elections and 16 of whom were elected through the party list proportional representation system. The term of the assembly started on 4 February 2018 and ended in September 2022. Mahendra Bahadur Shahi from the CPN and Jeevan Bahadur Shahi from the Nepali Congress served as chief ministers during the term of the assembly. Raj Bahadur Shahi served as the speaker of the assembly and Pushpa Bahadur Gharti served as the deputy speaker.

The Second Federal Parliament of Nepal, was elected by the 2022 general elections on 20 November 2022. The elections elected 275 Members of Parliament (MPs), 165 for each constituency and 110 through the party list, to the House of Representatives. The parliament convened for the first time on 9 January 2023.

The Third Hikmat Karki cabinet is the current and 9th provincial government of Koshi Province. It was formed after Hikmat Kumar Karki was sworn in as Chief Minister of Koshi Province on 9 May 2024. Karki's claim for chief minister was supported by the Communist Party of Nepal and Communist Party of Nepal.

Chet Narayan Acharya is a Nepalese politician, belonging to the Communist Party of Nepal. He is currently serving as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province since 22 July 2024. Acharya has been serving as a member of the Lumbini Provincial Assembly from Archakhanchi 1 (A) constituency since 2018.
