2004 Pekan Olahraga Nasional or the Pekan Olahraga Nasional XVI were a major multi-sport event in Indonesia which took place in Palembang, South Sumatra, from 2 September to 14 September 2004. [1] [2] A total of 607 events in 41 sports were competed among more than 5,500 athletes from 30 provinces, with the newly created province of Riau Islands only as observer and did not send any athletes. The games also staged 8 paralympic sports.

The National Sports Committee of Indonesia is the sports governing body of Indonesia. It was founded in 1946 to unite the various satellite sports associations that was created within the regions of Indonesia. It organizes the Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON), multi-sport event held every four years where Indonesian athletes compete. It is the largest sporting event in Indonesia.

2008 Pekan Olahraga National or the Indonesia National Games XVII were a major multi-sport event in Indonesia which took place in Samarinda, East Kalimantan from 5–17 July 2008. A total of 7,946 athletes participated in the biggest-ever Pekan Olahraga Nasional and also the first on the island of Borneo. These games make Samarinda the second city to host Pekan Olahraga Nasional outside of the island of Java and Sumatra, after Makassar hosted the 1957 Pekan Olahraga Nasional.

2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional is the nineteenth edition of Pekan Olahraga Nasional. It was held in Bandung, West Java in 2016. It was the first time for Indonesia's third largest city of Bandung to host the games in more than forty years. Bandung hosted the fifth edition of Pekan Olahraga Nasional in 1961.

Jakabaring Sport City(sic), also known as Jakabaring Sports Complex is an integrated sports facility complex in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia. The complex is located 5 kilometers southeast of Palembang city center, across the Musi river by the Ampera Bridge in Jakabaring, Seberang Ulu I area.

Bung Karno Sports Arena, formerly named Senayan Sports Arena from 1969 to 2001 and Asian Games Complex on its early days, is a sports complex located in Gelora, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It is usually misperceived to be located at Senayan, South Jakarta, hence its former name. The sports complex hosts main stadium, secondary stadium, the Sports Palace, football fields, aquatic stadium, tennis stadiums, hockey, baseball and archery fields, and several indoor gymnasiums. Dian David Mickael Jacobs was an Indonesian athlete who competed in table tennis, primarily Class 10 para table tennis. Born in Ujung Pandang, he took up table tennis at the age of ten and rose quickly through national tournaments. He was training to play internationally by 2000, and in 2001 he won his first gold medal, at the SEATTA Championships in Singapore. After 2010 he competed in para table tennis, having spent most of his career competing against athletes with full functionality. Having lost control in his right hand, he decided to compete in the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, winning a bronze medal.

Setyo Budi Hartanto is an Indonesian athlete who competes in long jump and high jump. He competed at the 2012 Summer Paralympic Games.

Edgar Xavier Marvelo is a wushu taolu athlete from Indonesia. He is a three-time world champion as well as a medalist at the Asian Games and the SEA Games.

The XX National Sports Week, also called PON XX Papua or PON Papua 2021, was the twentieth edition of the Indonesian National Sports Week, hosted by Papua. The event took place from 2 October to 15 October 2021. Lukas Enembe Stadium was the main venue for this edition, both the opening and closing ceremonies. This event was originally going to be held in 2020, but was postponed to 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic. This edition was the first PON held in the province, as well as in the Western New Guinea region and Eastern Indonesian Time areas.

Fencing competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 23 September and 28 September at Haris Hotel, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 234 athletes competed in 12 events—six individual and six team.

Badminton competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 19 September and 28 September at GOR Bima, Cirebon, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 87 athletes from 17 provinces participated. In this edition, athletes who can participate are limited to a maximum birth of 1991.

Gymnastics competitions at the 2016 Pekan Olahraga Nasional were held between 20 September and 27 September at GOR Arcamanik, Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. A total of 136 athletes from 22 provinces competed in 24 events.

Nisa Afrawasih is an Indonesian right-handed épée fencer. She won a gold medal for Riau in 2021 Pekan Olahraga Nasional.
