National Blackout: A technical fault in Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) triggered a nationwide blackout in Pakistan on Sunday. It was not sabotage.
Bird Show organized by Budgerigar Society of Pakistan (BSP) in Lahore: BSP changed bird fancying in Pakistan after organizing the first ever Bird Show in Pakistan where they invited an international judge for a Budgerigar Competition in Pakistan. The judge was invited from London. It was the first ever bird show which was organized under WBO standards. Spokesman Naveed Ijaz confirmed that BSP will continue organizing such events, he also shared that the next event of this level by BSP will be organized on October 21, 2007 at Avari Hotel Lahore. Asif and Shoib fail doping test: Pakistan have withdrawn fast bowlers Shoaib Akhtar and Mohammad Asif from the Champions Trophy in India after testing positive for nandrolone. The tests were carried out by the Pakistan Cricket Board three weeks ago and showed positive results for the performance-enhancing steroid. They are Pakistan's best new-ball bowlers but face bans of up to two years if the second test is confirmed. [18]

Pervez Musharraf is a Pakistani politician and a retired four-star general who became the tenth president of Pakistan after the successful military takeover of the federal government in 1999. He held the presidency from 2001 until 2008, when he tendered his resignation to avoid impeachment.

Pakistan Muslim League (N) Conservative political party in Pakistan

The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) is a centre-right, conservative political party in Pakistan. Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain is a senior Pakistani conservative politician hailing from Gujrat and a business oligarch who previously served as 16th prime minister of Pakistan from 30 June 2004 on a temporary basis during a transitional period to accommodate Shaukat Aziz till 28 August 2004. Hussain has been party president of the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) since 2003, when he had followed party founder Mian Muhammad Azhar because of his lack of a parliamentary seat.

Shaukat Aziz is a Pakistani former banker and financier who served as 17th prime minister of Pakistan from 20 August 2004 to 15 November 2007, as well as the finance minister of Pakistan from 6 November 1999 to 15 November 2007. Aziz graduated from the Institute of Business Administration in Karachi, and joined the corporate staff of the CitiBank Pakistan in 1969. He served in various countries' governments as CitiBank financier, and became executive vice-president of Citibank in 1999. After accepting a personal request by General Pervez Musharraf, Aziz returned to Pakistan from the United States to assume charge of the Finance Ministry as its finance minister while taking control of the country's economy. In 2004, Aziz was nominated by the Musharraf loyalist government led by Pakistan Muslim League (Q), to the position of Prime Minister after the resignation of Zafarullah Khan Jamali on 6 June 2004.

Kargil War 1999 India–Pakistan conflict

The Kargil War, also known as the Kargil conflict, was an armed conflict fought between India and Pakistan from May to July 1999 in the Kargil district of Jammu and Kashmir and elsewhere along the Line of Control (LoC). In India, the conflict is also referred to as Operation Vijay, which was the name of the Indian military operation to clear out the Kargil sector. The Indian Air Force's role in acting jointly with Indian Army ground troops during the war was aimed at flushing out regular and irregular troops of the Pakistan Army from vacated Indian positions along the LoC. This particular operation was given the codename Operation Safed Sagar.

Lieutenant-General Mahmud AhmedHI(M), is a retired three-star rank army general in the Pakistan Army who served as the Director-General of the Inter-Services Intelligence from 1999 to 2001.

Muhammad Mian Soomro

Muhammad Mian Soomro is a Pakistani politician and a banker who currently serves as the federal minister for Privatization. Born to a royal Sindhi family originally linked to Soomra dynasty, he previously, served as the chairman of the Senate from 2003 to 2009, the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan from 2007 to 2008 and the acting president of Pakistan from 18 August 2008 to 9 September 2008.

Shaheed Nawab Akbar Shahbaz Khan Bugti was the Tumandar (head) of the Bugti tribe of Baloch people who served as the Minister of State for Interior and Governor of Balochistan Province in Pakistan. He also became minister of state for defence in the cabinet of Feroz Khan Noon. Earlier, he had also served as the Minister of State for Interior.

The 1999 military takeover in Pakistan was a bloodless coup d'état initiated by the military staff at the Joint Staff HQ working under Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Pervez Musharraf. The instigators seized control of the civilian government of publicly elected Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on 12 October 1999. Simultaneously tenuring as Chief of Army Staff and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs. On 14 October Gen. Musharraf, acting as the country's Chief Executive, issued a controversial provisional order that suspended the Constitution of Pakistan.
