Dongguan Dongcheng was a football team based in Dongguan, Guangdong province, in the People's Republic of China, that played in the Chinese Football Association Jia League.

Qilihe Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Lanzhou, Gansu, China that opened in 1957. It was used mostly for football matches, including as the home stadium for Gansu Tianma F.C. until the team moved to Ningbo in 2003. The stadium had a capacity of 35,000. The stadium was demolished in 2017, and a new stadium with a capacity of 24,000 will be built at its location.

Qingdao Hailifeng F.C., previously named Qingdao JVC Zhengyi, Qingdao Benda and Hefei Chuangyi was a former professional association football club in the Chinese Football Association Jia League. Suzhou Trips Football Club is a former Chinese football club based in Suzhou, Jiangsu who played in the Suzhou City Stadium. Founded in January, 2004 the club entered at the bottom of the Chinese football league pyramid where they stayed throughout their entire existence. The club brought in former Asian Footballer of the Year winner Fan Zhiyi as their technical director to raise their profile and performances of the club, however this ended up being highly disruptive and caused the club to get into debt. In their hopes to win promotion they would merge with another third-tier club Zhenjiang Groupway FC and then this would following with another merging with Ningbo Huaao football club at the beginning of the 2010 league season.

The 2003–2009 Chinese football match-fixing scandals were revealed by a large-scale 2009–2013 investigation of football betting, bribery and match-fixing. The scandals were first made public in October 2009. Instead of being led by General Administration of Sport of China or Chinese Football Association like previous investigations, this investigation was led by the Ministry of Public Security. Xie Yalong, Nan Yong and Yang Yimin, who are all former vice presidents of Chinese Football Association, along with Zhang Jianqiang and some other CFA officials were arrested and removed from their posts. Shanghai Shenhua was stripped of their 2003 Chinese Jia-A League title. Lu Jun, the only Chinese referee in the history of FIFA World Cup, and China national football team players Shen Si, Jiang Jin, Qi Hong and Li Ming were arrested and sentenced to 5.5 years or 6 years in jail.
