[1] From 10 August, ECDC only published deaths totals outside its area, and so the world cases table has not been maintained. This presentation of the data in this and other tables may show the progression, peaks, and, eventually, decline of the epidemic in each country and continent.

Among the Asian countries, South Korea had the most confirmed cases, followed by China, Hong Kong, and Thailand.

2018 Middle East respiratory syndrome outbreak

The 2018 Middle East respiratory syndrome outbreak was a continuing set of infections of the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS-CoV). The cases were most numerous in, and are believed to have originated from, Saudi Arabia.

The 2019-20 coronavirus pandemic was confirmed to have spread to Africa on 14 February 2020. The first confirmed case on the continent was in Egypt, and the first confirmed case in sub-Saharan Africa was in Nigeria. Most of the identified cases have arrived from Europe and the United States rather than from China.
