Relegations is determined at the end of the season by computing an average (Spanish: promedio) of the number of points earned per game over the past three seasons. The two teams with the lowest average is relegated to the División Intermedia for the following season.

Fidencio Oviedo Domínguez, known as Fidencio Oviedo, is a Paraguayan footballer currently playing for Fernando de la Mora in the División Intermedia. In 2012, Oviedo was named Paraguayan Footballer of the Year.

The team rosters for the 2001 South American U-20 Championship football tournament held in Ecuador. The ten national teams involved in the tournament were required to register a squad of 20 players; only players in these squads were eligible to take part in the tournament.

The 2018 Copa Paraguay was the first edition of the Copa Paraguay, Paraguay's domestic football cup competition. The competition ended with Guaraní winning their first title after beating Olimpia 5–3 on penalties in the final following a 2–2 draw. The fixtures for the season were announced on 13 December 2018. Olimpia were the defending champions after winning both tournaments of the 2018 season, and won a third championship in a row in the Torneo Apertura with three matches to spare after defeating Deportivo Santaní by a 6–0 score on 4 May. Olimpia also crowned themselves in the Torneo Clausura, winning a fourth title in a row with one matchday remaining, following a 2–2 draw at home against Guaraní on 8 December.

The 2019 Copa Paraguay was the second edition of the Copa Paraguay, Paraguay's domestic football cup competition. The competition started on 28 May 2019 and concluded on 5 December 2019. Libertad won their first title in the competition by beating defending champions Guaraní in the final by a 3–0 score. With both champions Libertad and runners-up Guaraní being already qualified for the 2020 Copa Libertadores, and third-placed team Deportivo Capiatá being relegated at the end of the season, the berth to the 2020 Copa Sudamericana the winners were originally entitled to was transferred to the Primera División aggregate table eighth-placed team, Sportivo Luqueño.

The 2022 Copa Libertadores group stage was played from 5 April to 26 May 2022. A total of 32 teams competed in the group stage to decide the 16 places in the final stages of the 2022 Copa Libertadores.
