The 2013 season was the 116th season of competitive football in Sweden. The competitive year started with the group stage of Svenska Cupen on 2 March. League competition started in early April with Allsvenskan on 31 March, Superettan on 6 April, Division 1 and lower men's leagues plus the Damallsvenskan on 13 April. Svenska Cupen ended with the final played at the national stadium Friends Arena on 26 May. Allsvenskan ended on 3 November, Superettan one day earlier on 2 November, Division 1 and lower men's leagues on 26 October and Damallsvenskan on 20 October. Qualification play-offs were held after the end of league play with the Allsvenskan play-offs being held on 7 and 10 November and the Superettan play-offs being held on 6 and 9 November. Svenska Supercupen was held on 10 November and was contested by the winner of Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen. Sweden participated in qualification for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Sweden also hosted UEFA Women's Euro 2013 between 10 and 28 July.

The 2011 Svenska Cupen was the 56th season of Svenska Cupen, the main Swedish football Cup. It began on 5 March 2011 with the first match of the preliminary round and ended on 5 November with the Final. Helsingborgs IF won the cup after beating Kalmar FF 3–1 in the final, Helsingborg were also the defending champions. The 2013 Svenska Cupen final was played on 26 May 2013. The match was played at the national stadium Friends Arena in Solna which was completed in November 2012 and hosted the final for the first time. The final made its return to Solna for the first time since 2009 and it was also the first time since 2006 that the final was played at a neutral venue. The final was the culmination of the 2012–13 Svenska Cupen, and the first time since 2001 that the final was held in springtime. Allsvenskan clubs Djurgårdens IF and IFK Göteborg contested the 2013 final. In Sweden the match was televised live on SVT.

Svenska Supercupen 2013, Swedish Super Cup 2013, was the 7th Svenska Supercupen, an annual football match held by the winners of the previous season's Allsvenskan and Svenska Cupen competitions. This marked the first time that the cup was held after the end of the standard league season. The match was played at Swedbank Stadion, Malmö, on 10 November 2013, and was played by the 2013 Allsvenskan champions Malmö FF and the 2012–13 Svenska Cupen champions IFK Göteborg. The match was IFK Göteborg's fourth and Malmö FF's second appearance in the competition. The two clubs played against each other for the first time in the cup's history and it was the second time that the competition was hosted at Swedbank Stadion.

It was Malmö FF's second successive appearance and third in total, it was also the first time that the competition was hosted at Malmö Stadion and the first time the competition was hosted at an alternative home venue.

The winners of the competition will earn a place in the second qualifying round of the 2017–18 UEFA Europa League, unless they have already qualified for European competition in the 2017–18 season, in which case the qualification spot will go to fourth-placed team of the 2016 Allsvenskan.

The 2022 Allsvenskan was the 98th season since its establishment in 1924 of Sweden's top-level football league, Allsvenskan. A total of 16 teams participated. Malmö FF were the defending champions after winning the title in the previous season.

The 2022–23 Svenska Cupen Damer is the 40th edition of the women's association football main cup competition in Sweden.
