The 2014 U-15 Baseball World Cup was the second under-15 international baseball championship. It was held in Sinaloa, Mexico, from July 31 to August 10, 2014.
On November 6, 2013, it was announced that La Paz, Baja California Sur would be hosting the tournament. The newly renovated Arturo C. Nahl Stadium was to be the centerpiece of the tournament. [1] However, on June 10, 2014, it was announced that the event would be relocated across the Gulf of California to Mazatlán and Culiacán after La Paz was affected by Hurricane Amanda. [2] When the schedules were announced, it was revealed that some games would also be played in Los Mochis. [3] Ultimately, seven ballparks were used during the tournament. [4] The final round, consisting of the championship and third-place game, were held at Estadio Teodoro Mariscal in Mazatlán. [5]

On April 29, 2014, a sixteen-team field including unranked Tunisia was announced. [6] When the groups and schedule were announced on July 24, 2014, however, it was also announced that Guatemala would be replacing Tunisia for undisclosed reasons. [3]

Sinaloa, officially the Estado Libre y Soberano de Sinaloa, is one of the 31 states which, along with Mexico City, comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into 18 municipalities, and its capital city is Culiacán Rosales.

The World Baseball Softball Confederation Europe, known as WBSC Europe, was established on February 10, 2018, during a Congress of the Confederation of European Baseball and the European Softball Federation in Val d’Europe, France. the establishment of WBSC Europe followed the historic merger of the Confederation of European Baseball (CEB) and the European Softball Federation (ESF). As of September 2022, WBSC Europe counts 40 members for baseball and 39 for softball.
The Women's Baseball World Cup is an international tournament in which national women's baseball teams from around the world compete. Through its 2012 edition, it was sanctioned by the International Baseball Federation; following the 2013 merger of the IBAF with the International Softball Federation, subsequent tournaments are sanctioned by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) is the world governing body for the sports of baseball, softball, and Baseball5. It was established in 2013 by the merger of the International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and International Softball Federation (ISF). Under the WBSC's organizational structure, the IBAF and ISF now serve as the confederation's baseball and softball divisions, respectively. Each division is governed by an executive committee, while the WBSC is governed by an executive board.
Hurricane Amanda was the strongest Eastern Pacific tropical cyclone ever recorded in the month of May. The first named storm, hurricane and major hurricane of the 2014 Pacific hurricane season, Amanda originated from a tropical wave that had entered the Eastern Pacific on May 16. Slow development occurred as it tracked westward, and development into a tropical depression occurred on May 22. The depression later strengthened into a tropical storm on May 23. Amid very favorable conditions, Amanda then rapidly intensified late on May 23, eventually reaching its peak intensity on May 25 as a high-end Category 4 hurricane. Afterwards, steady weakening occurred due to upwelling beneath the storm, and Amanda fell below major hurricane intensity on May 26. Rapid weakening occurred and the cyclone eventually dissipated on May 29.

The WBSC Premier12 is the international baseball tournament organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), featuring the 12 highest-ranked national baseball teams in the world. The first tournament was held by Taiwan and Japan in November 2015. The second tournament, 2019 WBSC Premier12, was held in November 2019, and served as a qualifier for two teams for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics.

The 2021 Women's Baseball World Cup would have been the ninth edition of the WBSC Women's Baseball World Cup, the biennial international women's baseball world championship tournament. The competition was planned to be held in Tijuana, Mexico in late 2021, with dates to be announced. The competition was originally to be held in Monterrey, Mexico from 11 to 20 September 2020, and was initially rescheduled to be held in Tijuana from 1 to 9 March 2021, but was postponed both times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament was cancelled altogether in October 2021.
The Mantarrayas de La Paz are a Mexican professional basketball team based in La Paz, Baja California Sur. The Mantarrayas are members of the Circuito de Baloncesto de la Costa del Pacífico (CIBACOPA) and play their games in the Arena La Paz.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused disruption to baseball around the world, mirroring its impact across all sports. Leagues around the world experienced delayed starts, cancelled seasons, limited or no fan attendance, game postponements, and other restrictions in 2020 and 2021. Most leagues, including Major League Baseball, began to transition back to a normal schedule with fan attendance in 2021. Since then, few leagues have widespread restrictions in place, but players may still miss time if they contract the virus.
