Garbiñe Muguruza defeated Timea Bacsinszky in the final, 7–5, 6–4 to win the women's singles tennis title at the 2015 China Open. It was her first WTA Premier Mandatory level-tournament and second WTA Tour title overall, and she became the first Spanish player to win a Premier Mandatory tournament.
Maria Sharapova was the defending champion, but withdrew with a left forearm injury before the tournament began.

Belinda Bencic won the women's singles tennis title at the 2015 Canadian Open after Simona Halep retired in the final, with scoreline at 7–6(7–5), 6–7(4–7), 3–0. Bencic defeated six major finalists in succession en route to her first WTA Tour title. At 18 years and 23 weeks of age, Bencic became the youngest woman to win the tournament, surpassing Ana Ivanovic's record from 2006.

It was part of ATP World Tour 500 series on the 2015 ATP World Tour, and the last WTA Premier Mandatory tournament of the 2015 WTA Tour. Both the men's and the women's events were held at the National Tennis Center in Beijing, China, from October 5 to October 11, 2015.
Venus Williams won the singles tennis title at the 2015 Wuhan Open after Garbiñe Muguruza retired in the final, with the scoreline at 6–3, 3–0. Williams saved a match point en route to the title, in the semifinals against Roberta Vinci.
