2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup | |
The 2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup was the 25th staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the international basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament took place in Chenzhou, China from 8 October to 16 October, 2016. [1] [2] The venue of the tournament was Chenzhou Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium. This was the return of the tournament after a two-year hiatus since the 2013 edition.
Xinjiang Flying Tigers from China, which used the name 'China Kashgar' during this tournament, won its first ever FIBA Asia Champions Cup title in its tournament debut. After going undefeated in the entire tournament, Xinjiang defeated Al-Riyadi from Lebanon in the final game, 96–88. It was the fourth time a club from China has won the championship. [3]
According to the FIBA Asia rules, the number of participating teams in the FIBA Asia Champions Cup is ten. Each of the six FIBA Asia Sub-Zones has one place, and the hosts (China) was automatically qualified. The other three places are allocated to the zones according to performance in the 2013 FIBA Asia Champions Cup. [4] [5]

According to the Basketball Federation of India's official website, the 30th Federation National Basketball Championship served as the qualifying tournament for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, wherein the champion team will qualify to represent South Asia. [6] On March 14, 2016, ONGC defeated IOB in the finals to win the championship and the right to represent South Asia subzone to the FIBA Asia Champions Cup. [7] [8]
On March 27, 2016, the Westports Malaysia Dragons clinched a berth to the 2016 FIBA Asia Champions Cup by winning the ASEAN Basketball League crown against rivals Singapore Slingers in a best of 5 Finals series.
The draw was held in the host city Chenzhou on 1 September 2016. [9]

The FIBA Asia Cup is an international basketball tournament which takes place every four years between the men's national teams of Asia and Oceania.
The India men's national basketball team represents India in international men's basketball. It is controlled by Basketball Federation of India. The team made significant improvements as the sports of basketball is becoming more popular.
The men's national under-19 basketball team of the Philippines represents the country in junior men's under-18 and under-19 FIBA tournaments. It is governed by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The FIBA Asia Challenge, previously known as the FIBA Asia Stanković Cup between 2004 and 2010 and FIBA Asia Cup from 2012 to 2014, is a basketball tournament which originally took place every two years between teams from Asia.
The FIBA Asia Champions Cup 2011 was the 22nd staging of the FIBA Asia Champions Cup, the basketball club tournament of FIBA Asia. The tournament was held in Pasig, Philippines from May 28 to June 5, 2011. The event is co-organized by the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas and FIBA Asia.

The 2017 FIBA Asia Cup was the 29th continental basketball championship in Asia. The tournament was organised by FIBA Asia. It took place from 8 to 20 August 2017, a week earlier from the initial scheduled date, in Lebanon. The Nouhad Nawfal Arena with a capacity of 8,000 seats hosted the tournament's matches.

The competition was scheduled to be played in Dalang, China from 26 March to 1 April 2018. The top four teams would represent FIBA Asia to the 2018 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup.
The 2017 SABA Championship is the 6th SABA Championship, and the qualifying event in the SABA sub-zone, one of the FIBA Asia's subzone for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The games were held from 19 to 23 May in Malé, Maldives. India successfully defended their SABA crown after sweeping the whole tournament. With this win, they qualified for the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup and the first round of the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers. The tournament followed a single round robin format.
The 4th East Asian Basketball Championship were the qualifying tournament of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup. It served also as a subzone championship involving the East Asian basketball teams. The tournament was hosted by the city of Nagano in Japan from 3 to 7 June 2017. The Chinese Taipei won their first title after defeating the defending champions, Korea in the Finals, 77–64. Japan beat China to take the bronze medal, 76–58.

The 2019 FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship was originally to be the qualifying tournament for FIBA Asia at the 2020 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup. The tournament would have been held in Beirut, Lebanon from 5 to 12 April 2020. The top four teams would have represented FIBA Asia at the Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Bulgaria. However it was cancelled by FIBA due to the coronavirus pandemic in China. Instead it was determined by FIBA rankings.
Ali Mansour is a Lebanese professional basketball player for the Al Riyadi Club Beirut of the Lebanese Basketball League, and for the Lebanon national team. Mansour was named MVP in the 2016 Under 18 Arab Basketball Championship, and Best point guard in the 2021 Eurasian League Basketball championship. He is widely regarded as one of the best guards in the Lebanese league.
The 2023 FIBA U16 Asian Championship was the seventh edition of the FIBA Under-16 Asian Championship in the International Basketball Federation's FIBA Asia zone. The tournament was held at the Al-Gharafa Indoor Hall and the Al-Rayyan Indoor Hall in Doha, Qatar, from September 17 to September 24, 2023. It served as a qualifier for the 2024 FIBA Under-17 Basketball World Cup in Turkey, where the top four teams qualified.
