The 2016 PowerShares QQQ 300 was the 1st stock car race of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season and the 35th iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, February 20, 2016, in Daytona Beach, Florida, at Daytona International Speedway a 2.5 miles (4.02 km) permanent triangular-shaped superspeedway. The race took the scheduled 120 laps to complete. At race's end, Chase Elliott, driving for JR Motorsports, held off a hard-charging Joey Logano to earn his 5th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win and his first of the season. [1] To fill out the podium, Logano of Team Penske and Kasey Kahne of JR Motorsports would finish second and third, respectively.

Background

Daytona International Speedway is one of three superspeedways to hold NASCAR races, the other two being Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. [2] The standard track at Daytona International Speedway is a four-turn superspeedway that is 2.5 miles (4.0 km) long. The track's turns are banked at 31 degrees, while the front stretch, the location of the finish line, is banked at 18 degrees. [3]

Qualifying

Qualifying was held on Saturday, February 20, at 11:00 AM EST. Since Daytona International Speedway is at least 2 miles (3.2 km), the qualifying system was a single car, single lap, two round system where in the first round, everyone would set a time to determine positions 13-40. Then, the fastest 12 qualifiers would move on to the second round to determine positions 1-12. [7]

Ty Dillon of Richard Childress Racing would win the pole after advancing from the preliminary round and setting the fastest lap in Round 2, with a time of 49.493 and an average speed of 181.844 mph (292.650 km/h). [8]

Mark Thompson, Mario Gosselin, Harrison Rhodes, Derrike Cope, Chris Fontaine, Derek White, Mike Harmon, and Stanton Barrett failed to qualify.

It was the first race of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season, and also marked the first race for the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 as Chevrolet's car for this season, replacing the SS. Austin Dillon of Richard Childress Racing won the race after contact with Aric Almirola on the final lap resulted in a single-car accident for the latter. The 2020 NASCAR Racing Experience 300 was a NASCAR Xfinity Series race held on February 15, 2020. It was contested over 120 laps on the 2.5-mile (4.0 km) asphalt superspeedway. It was the first race of the 2020 NASCAR Xfinity Series season. JR Motorsports driver Noah Gragson collected his first career Xfinity Series win in a finish under caution.

The race was run over 120 laps. In a wild ending, Austin Hill, driving for Richard Childress Racing, would win the race under caution, with a major wreck including Jordan Anderson Racing driver Myatt Snider flipping and hitting the catchfence with others involved spinning and hitting parts of Snider's wrecked car. Snider would eventually walk away, unharmed from the incident. The win was Hill's first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, A. J. At race's end, Aric Almirola, driving for Biagi-DenBeste Racing, would take the lead with four to go and defend fiercely to win his third and to date, final career NASCAR Xfinity Series win and his only win of the season. To fill out the podium, Elliott Sadler of JR Motorsports and Joey Logano of Team Penske would finish second and third, respectively.

The race was held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, in Lincoln, Alabama, at Talladega Superspeedway, a 2.66 miles permanent triangular-shaped superspeedway. The race was increased from 113 laps to 116 laps, due to a NASCAR overtime finish. In a wild finish that sparked controversy, Elliott Sadler, driving for JR Motorsports, would spin Brad Keselowski on the final lap, and earned his 11th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, Justin Allgaier, driving for JR Motorsports, and Brennan Poole, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, would finish second and third, respectively.

The 2016 Ollie's Bargain Outlet 200 was the tenth stock car race of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and the 35th iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, May 14, 2016, in Dover, Delaware at Dover International Speedway, a 1 mile (1.6 km) permanent oval-shaped racetrack. The race took the scheduled 120 laps to complete, with the first 80 laps being split into two 40-lap heats of 20 cars. Erik Jones, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, would take the lead early, and dominate most of the race for his fourth career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his second of the season. To fill out the podium, Bubba Wallace, driving for Roush Fenway Racing, and Alex Bowman, driving for JR Motorsports, would finish second and third, respectively.

The 2016 Pocono Green 250 was the twelfth stock car race of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and the first iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, in Long Pond, Pennsylvania, at Pocono Raceway, a 2.5 miles (4.0 km) permanent triangular-shaped superspeedway. The race was decreased from 100 laps to 53 laps, due to inclement weather. Kyle Larson, driving for Chip Ganassi Racing, would take the win, after leading when the race got called due to persistent rain showers. This was Larson's 4th career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. To fill out the podium, Erik Jones, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, and Ty Dillon, driving for Richard Childress Racing, would finish second and third, respectively.

The 2016 Menards 250 presented by Valvoline was the thirteenth stock car race of the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series season, and the 25th iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Brooklyn, Michigan, at Michigan International Speedway, a 2 miles (3.2 km) permanent tri-oval shaped superspeedway. The race took the scheduled 125 laps to complete. In an exciting battle for the win, Daniel Suárez, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, would make a last lap pass on Kyle Busch, and earn his first career NASCAR Xfinity Series win. He would become the first Mexican driver to win a NASCAR national series race. Busch mainly dominated the race, leading 88 laps. To fill out the podium, Paul Menard, driving for Richard Childress Racing, would finish in third, respectively.

The 2023 Beef. It's What's for Dinner. 300 was the 1st stock car race of the 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series, and the 42nd iteration of the event. The race was held on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Daytona Beach, Florida, at Daytona International Speedway, a 2.5 miles (4.0 km) permanent tri-oval shaped superspeedway. The race was scheduled to be contested over 120 laps, but due to a NASCAR overtime finish, it was increased to 125 laps. Austin Hill, driving for Richard Childress Racing, would win the race after leading when the final caution came out on the last lap. This was Hill's third career NASCAR Xfinity Series win, and his first of the season. Hill would dominate the race as well, leading 39 laps. To fill out the podium, John Hunter Nemechek, driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, and Justin Allgaier, driving for JR Motorsports, would finish 2nd and 3rd, respectively.
