The 2017 BWF World Junior Championships (officially known as the Blibli.com Yonex-Sunrise BWF World Junior Championships 2017 for sponsorship reasons) was the nineteenth tournament of the BWF World Junior Championships. It was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia at the Among Rogo Sports Hall between 9 and 22 October 2017. [1]

Host city selection

Bilbao (Spain) and Yogyakarta (Indonesia) originally submitted bids to host the 2016 competition. [2] Badminton World Federation later awarded the event to Bilbao while Yogyakarta was appointed as host for the next edition. According to the Indonesian delegation, the Spanish bid for the 2016 edition was approved due to fears of political instability should Bilbao awarded the 2017 edition. [3]

Della Destiara Haris is an Indonesian badminton player affiliated with Jaya Raya Jakarta club. In the junior event, she was the mixed doubles silver medalist at the 2009 World Junior Championships, and also the mixed team and doubles bronze medalists at the 2010 Asian Junior Championships. She won her first international title in 2010 Indonesia International, and claimed her first Grand Prix title in 2016 Vietnam Open. Haris was two times Asian Championships bronze medalists winning in 2018 and 2019.

Muhammad Rian Ardianto is an Indonesian badminton player. Born in Bantul, Yogyakarta SR, Ardianto plays for the Jaya Raya Jakarta club at national events. He won the men's doubles silver medal at the 2018 Asian Games, the bronze medals at the 2019 World Championships and at the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. Ardianto was part of Indonesia winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup.

Kim Astrup Sørensen is a Danish badminton player. As junior player, he won the bronze medal at the 2010 World Junior Championships in the boys' doubles. He later won a gold in the mixed doubles and bronze medals in the boys' doubles and team events at the 2011 European Junior Championships. He joined the Denmark winning team at the 2016 Thomas Cup in Kunshan, China, where he and his teammates beating Indonesia 3–2 in the final. Astrup emerge victorious in the men's doubles at the 2018 European Championships.

Setyana Mapasa Badminton player

Setyana Daniella Florensia Mapasa is an Australian badminton player. Mapasa won a silver medal at the 2013 BWF World Junior Championships mixed team when she represented Indonesia. She officially became an Australian citizen in 2014. She was selected to join the national team compete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. She was four times women's doubles Oceania champions from 2017 to 2020 with her partner Gronya Somerville, also two times champion in the mixed doubles event in 2017 and 2018 alongside Sawan Serasinghe.

He won four consecutives Indonesia International tournament, two times at the USM International in Semarang, and two times at the Victor International in Surabaya. Nami Matsuyama is a Japanese badminton player from the Saishunkan team. She was the girls' doubles gold medalist at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Bilbao, Spain partnered with Sayaka Hobara. Matsuyama won her first senior international title in Thailand at the 2017 Smiling Fish International tournament with Chiharu Shida.

2018 Thomas & Uber Cup

The 2018 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 30th edition of the Thomas Cup and the 27th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament was hosted by Bangkok, Thailand 20–27 May 2018.

The 2018 BWF World Championships was a badminton tournament which was held from 30 July to 5 August at Nanjing Youth Olympic Games Sports Park Arena in Nanjing, China.

2020 Thomas & Uber Cup Biennial international badminton championship

The 2020 Thomas & Uber Cup was the 31st edition of the Thomas Cup and the 28th edition of the Uber Cup, the biennial international badminton championship contested by the men and women's national teams of the member associations of Badminton World Federation (BWF). The tournament were played at Ceres Arena in Aarhus, Denmark. It is the first time that Denmark hosted the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup tournament and the first time this event was held in Europe since England 1982. It was due to be played on 15–23 August 2020, but on 29 April 2020 it was postponed to the 3–11 October due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On 15 September 2020 it was again postponed and on 21 December 2020 it was announced that it was postponed to 9–17 October 2021.

Shikha Gautam Indian badminton player

Shikha Rajesh Gautam is an Indian badminton player. A member of the Indian squad at the 2019 Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in Hong Kong, Shikha is current national champion and is ranked no. 1 Women's Doubles player in India.

Pramudya Kusumawardana Riyanto is an Indonesian badminton player from Sukabumi, West Java, who affiliate with Djarum club. He was part of the Indonesia junior team that won the bronze medals at the 2018 Asian and World Junior Championships, and also the boys' doubles bronze in the 2018 Asian Junior.
