Blekinge County held a regional council election on 9 September 2018 at the same time as the general and municipal elections. [1] [2]

Results

There were 57 seats, ten more than in 2014. [3] The Social Democrats remained the largest party but suffered nearly seven points of a deficit from the 2014 results, going from 39.3% to 32.5%. [1] In spite of this the increased numbers of seats meant the party remained at 19 seats. [3] This was still a sizeably lower share. The Sweden Democrats recorded 20.6% and became the second largest party, while the Moderates made gains in spite of a nationwide drop. [1]

Blekinge County is a county or län in the south of Sweden. It borders the Counties of Skåne, Kronoberg, Kalmar and the Baltic Sea. The capital is Karlskrona. It is the smallest of the present administrative counties of Sweden, covering only 0,7% of the total area of the country.

Local elections were held in Sweden on 9 September 2018 to elect the 20 county councils and 290 municipal councils. Advance voting was allowed between 22 August and 9 September 2018. The elections took place alongside the general elections.

The 2022 Swedish general election was held on 11 September to determine the 349 seats of Sweden's parliament, the Riksdag, for the term lasting until 2026. The opposition right-wing bloc won a majority of seats and later formed the Tidö Agreement. The agreement paved the way to the Kristersson Cabinet, a minority government of Ulf Kristersson's Moderate Party, the Christian Democrats, and Liberals that relies on confidence and supply from the Sweden Democrats (SD), the first time the party is holding direct influence on government policy.
