The 2019 Intercontinental Cup (known as the 2019 Hero Intercontinental Cup for sponsorship reasons, was the second edition of the Intercontinental Cup, a 4-nations football tournament held at TransStadia Arena in the Indian city of Ahmedabad between the 7th and 19th of July 2019. [2] The tournament was organized by the AIFF. [3] [4] [5]

North Korea won the title by a 1–0 victory over Tajikistan in the final. [1]

Participating nations

Though the tournament was supposed to be played by teams from different confederations, in this edition of the Intercontinental Cup all teams participating were from AFC only. [3] [4] All the four teams played each other in a round robin phase and the top two teams played the final. [5]

The 2018 Intercontinental Cup was a 4-nations football tournament held at the Mumbai Football Arena in the Indian city of Mumbai between 1 and 10 June 2018. The tournament was organized by the AIFF as part of the senior men's team's preparation for 2019 AFC Asian Cup. The tournament succeeded the Nehru Cup and developed post the Tri-Nation Series, where the then India head coach Stephen Constantine revealed that the intention was to hold a four-team tournament with India competing against teams from the Caribbean, Africa, and Asia. India won the tournament by defeating Kenya 2–0 in the final on 10 June 2018.

The Intercontinental Cup is a four-nation football tournament organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). It was launched in 2018 as a replacement for Nehru Cup, with the first edition held as the 2018 Intercontinental Cup (India). Naming rights of the tournament were purchased by Hero MotoCorp which also sponsored the national team at that time. On 7 January 2023, the AIFF confirmed that the Intercontinental Cup would become an annual competition as part of their "Vision 2047" initiative to improve Indian football.

The 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualification was an international men's under-23 football competition which decided the participating teams of the 2022 AFC U-23 Asian Cup.

The 2023 Intercontinental Cup was the third edition of the Intercontinental Cup, a four-nation football tournament held at the Kalinga Stadium, in the Indian city of Bhubaneswar between the 9 to 18 June 2023. The tournament was organized by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). North Korea won the previous edition by a 1–0 victory over Tajikistan in the final in 2019. India became the champion of this edition after defeating Lebanon by 2–0 in the final. With two goals each, Lallianzuala Chhangte and Sunil Chhetri of India were joint-top scorers of the tournament. Sandesh Jhingan of India was awarded best player of the tournament.
