Ingebrigtsen was initially disqualified for stepping out of the lane. Subsequently, the jury accepted the Norwegian team's appeal, as Ingebrigtsen had been forced to foul because he was closed by the two Polish, but had not gained any advantage from this. [1]

The European Athletics Indoor Championships is a biennial indoor track and field competition for European athletes that is organised by the European Athletic Association. It was held for the first time in 1970, replacing the European Indoor Games, its predecessor event first held in 1966.

Totka Nikolaeva Petrova is a retired female middle distance runner who represented Bulgaria in the 1970s and the early 1980s. She specialized in the 800 and 1500 metres, and won numerous international medals. She is still the Bulgarian 1500 metres record holder.

The men's 1500 metres at the 2016 European Athletics Championships took place at the Olympic Stadium on 7 and 9 July. The gold medal was won by Filip Ingebrigtsen from Norway while David Bustos from Spain won silver and Henrik Ingebrigtsen, older brother of Filip, won bronze medal.

Filip Ingebrigtsen Norwegian middle-distance runner

Filip Mangen Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian middle distance runner who represents Sandnes Idrettslag. In 2016, Ingebrigtsen became European Champion at 1500 meters during the European Championships in Amsterdam, and took bronze over the same distance at the World Championships in 2017 in London. He previously held the Norwegian 1500m record with the time 3:30.01, set at a Diamond League meet in Monaco on July 20, 2018. At the 2019 London Diamond League Filip finished second to Samuel Tefera in the mile. With a time of 3:49.60 Ingebrigtsen ran a national record and new personal best.

The men's 1500 metres event at the 2017 European Athletics Indoor Championships was held on 3 March 2017 at 19:15 (heats) and on 4 March 20:18 (final) local time.
