The 2022 A Lyga, for sponsorship reasons also called Optibet A lyga [1] was the 33rd season of the A Lyga, the top-tier football league of Lithuania. The season began on 4 March and concluded on 23 November 2022. [2]
FK Žalgiris started the season as defending champions. DFK Dainava and FK Nevėžis were relegated, and replaced with FA Šiauliai and FK Jonava. All teams that were eligible to participate in A lyga based on sporting principle have successfully passed the licensing process for the first time in recent years. [3] [4] [5]

Lietuvos krepšinio lyga, also known as Betsafe LKL for sponsorship reasons, is the premier professional men's club basketball league in Lithuania. It is composed of 10 teams, and it is a member of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation. The best LKL clubs are also annual participants of the top European-wide basketball competitions, including the top-tier level EuroLeague.

The 2021–22 BC Žalgiris season is the 78th season in the existence of the club. The club has been playing in the Betsafe-LKL, King Mindaugas Cup and the EuroLeague. Coach Martin Schiller, who served as the team's head coach the previous season, was shortly after the season began replaced by Jure Zdovc in October 2021. He was then replaced by Kazys Maksvytis in early April after losing twice in a row in LKL and finishing last in Euroleague.
