The 2022 DFL-Supercup was the 13th edition of the German super cup under the name DFL-Supercup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal competitions. The match was played on 30 July 2022. [3]

Contents

The match featured RB Leipzig, the winners of the 2021–22 DFB-Pokal, and Bayern Munich, the winners of the 2021–22 Bundesliga. RB Leipzig hosted the match at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.

Bayern Munich were the defending champions, having won the 2021 edition 3–1 against Borussia Dortmund. They successfully defended their title, winning the match 5–3 for their third consecutive and tenth overall title.

The 2021 DFB-Pokal Final decided the winner of the 2020–21 DFB-Pokal, the 78th season of the annual German football cup competition. The match was played on Thursday, 13 May 2021 at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The match was originally scheduled for Saturday, 22 May 2021, but was moved to an earlier date prior to the completion of the league season in Germany. This was due to fixture density caused by the late start of the season, originating from the postponement of the end of the previous season as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. As with other competitions, the match was played behind closed doors without any spectators.

The 2019–20 season was RB Leipzig's 11th season in existence and the club's fourth consecutive season in the top flight of German football. The 2023–24 season was the 15th season in the history of RB Leipzig and their eigthth consecutive season in the top flight. The club participated in the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, DFL-Supercup and UEFA Champions League.
