The 2022 SCO summit was the 22nd annual summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation held between 15 and 16 September 2022 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. [1]

Proceedings

As part of the meetings, general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party and Chinese president Xi Jinping met with Russian president Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, Putin acknowledged that the Chinese side had "concerns and questions" over Russia's invasion of Ukraine. [2]

Putin also met with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi. During the meeting, Modi said that "today's era is not of war". [3]

The leaders of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan met to discuss the 2022 Kyrgyzstan–Tajikistan clashes which escalated during the summit. [4]

Iran formally submitted its application to join the SCO as a full member state, which is expected to become effective within a year. [5]

Turkey also announced its intention to join in the future. [6]

The 2014 SCO summit was the 13th annual summit of heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation held between 11 and 12 September in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Security was among the top issues for 13th annual summit and all members during the last meeting reached a consensus on fighting against separatism, extremism and terrorism, as well as on safeguarding regional peace and security therefore Afghanistan will be focal point during talks in Dushanbe, claim some diplomats of member countries.

The Order of the Golden Eagle or "Altyn Qyran" Order is the highest order of Kazakhstan. The order is awarded by the President of Kazakhstan. Established in 1995, the order recognizes outstanding service to Kazakhstan. The Order of the Golden Eagle may be awarded to individuals who have previously been awarded orders by Kazakhstan or the Soviet Union. The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan becomes a Commander special class of the Order of Altyn Kyran.

Heydar Aliyev, the former President of Azerbaijan, died on 12 December 2003 in the Cleveland Clinic at 10 am local time from heart failure at the age of 80. On 14 December, his coffin was taken to Baku.

The 2019 BRICS summit was the eleventh annual BRICS summit, an international relations conference to be attended by the heads of state or heads of government of the five member states Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. The meeting was held at the Itamaraty Palace, where the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is located. The Brazilian capital hosted the BRICS summit for the second time. The Sherpa meeting was held in the Brazilian city of Curitiba between March 14 and 15.
