Monsignor Alojz Tkáč was a Slovak Roman Catholic prelate. He was the bishop of Košice from 1990 to 1995, the first archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Košice from 1995 to 2010 and archbishop emeritus until his death.
Ján Zachara was a Slovak boxer. Representing Czechoslovakia, he won the gold medal in the featherweight division at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Zachara also competed in 1956, losing in a quarterfinal to Pentti Hämäläinen of Finland on points.
Presidential elections were held in Slovakia in March 2019. Incumbent President Andrej Kiska did not run for a second term.

Rudolf Čillík was a Slovak cross-country skier. He competed in the men's 15 kilometre event at the 1960 Winter Olympics. He also competed at FIS Nordic World Ski Championships in 1962 in Zakopane and 1966 in Oslo.

On 12 October 2022, two people were killed, and a third person was wounded in a shooting outside of the front entrance of Tepláreň, a gay bar in Bratislava, Slovakia, a well-known spot frequented by the local LGBTQ community. The shooting claimed two victims: Juraj Vankulič, a non-binary person, and Matúš Horváth, a bisexual man. The perpetrator was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot the morning after the attack.
Hilda Augustovičová was a Slovak actress and theatre manager.
Vladimír Krčméry was a Slovak physician, humanitarian and academic.
Eva Siracká was a Slovak physician. Between 1990 and 2020, she served as the president of the League Against Cancer NGO. In 2011, she became the first European woman to receive the Sasakawa Health Prize, awarded by the World Health Organisation. She is considered one of the "Greatest Slovaks".
Ivan Kováč was a Slovak middle-distance runner, specializing in 1,500 meters run, and sports journalist.
Karol Mikuláš was a Slovak miner, partisan, and political prisoner. He participated in the 1940 Handlová miners strike against the Fascist regime of the World War II era Slovak Republic and later fought as a partisan in the Slovak National Uprising. In 1955 he was arrested and sentenced to hard labor in a uranium mine by the Communist regime of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Shortly before his death, he received the Order of Ľudovít Štúr 1st class as a recognition of lifelong dedication to the values of democracy.
Daniel Heriban was a Slovak actor and musician who was known as one of the most universal actors in Slovakia, capable of excelling both in comedic and tragic roles.
