Grosuplje is a town in central Slovenia, in the northwest of the traditional region of Lower Carniola. It is the seat of the Municipality of Grosuplje and is part of the Central Slovenia Statistical Region. It has close ties to the nearby capital, Ljubljana.

The Slovenia men's national basketball team represents Slovenia in international basketball competitions, and is managed by the Basketball Federation of Slovenia. Letalnica bratov Gorišek is one of the two largest ski flying hills in the world and the biggest of eight hills located at the Planica Nordic Centre in Planica, Slovenia.

Slovenia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 with the song "For a Thousand Years", written by Sašo Fajon and Primož Peterca, and performed by Darja Švajger. The Slovene participating broadcaster, Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTVSLO), held the national final Evrovizijska Melodija 1999 in order to select its entry for the contest. Švajger had previously represented Slovenia in 1995.

Primož Gliha is a Slovenian professional football manager and former player who played as a forward. He was most recently the manager of Kosovo national team.

Slovenia was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 1997 with the song "Zbudi se", composed by Saša Lošić, with lyrics by Zoran Predin, and performed by Tanja Ribič. The Slovene participating broadcaster, Radiotelevizija Slovenija (RTVSLO), held the national final Evrovizijska Melodija 1997 in order to select its entry for the contest. 13 entries competed in the national final where "Zbudi se" performed by Tanja Ribič was selected as the winner entirely by a public televote.

Sport in Slovenia consists of a wide range of team and individual sports. The most popular team sports are football, basketball, volleyball, ice hockey, and handball. While the most popular individual sports are skiing, ski jumping, athletics, cycling, and tennis. Slovenia has competed at fifteen Olympic Games since its inaugural appearance at the 1992 Winter Olympics and is also known for its extreme sport athletes, such as ultramarathon swimmer Martin Strel and extreme skier Davo Karničar.

Bloudkova velikanka, also Bloudek-Rožmanova velikanka, is a large ski jumping hill in Planica, Slovenia, originally opened in 1934. In 2001, the hill collapsed and was completely rebuilt in 2012. A new normal hill (HS102) was also built next to Bloudkova velikanka in 2012, replacing the old K90 hill. A total of ten world records were set at the venue in the 1930s and 1940s.

Primož Roglič is a Slovenian professional racing cyclist who rides for UCI WorldTeam Red Bull–Bora–Hansgrohe. A former ski jumper, Roglič switched to cycling after an accident suffered at Planica. Despite becoming a professional at the relatively late age of 23, Roglič has since become one of the most successful cyclists of his generation, with many notable wins in time trials, one-week stage races, and Grand Tours.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Bine Rogelj</span> Slovene ski jumper and caricaturist (1929–2023)

Albin Rogelj was a Slovene ski jumper who represented Yugoslavia at the 1956 Winter Olympics, placing 23rd in the normal hill event. Later, he worked as a caricaturist for the Pavliha satirical weekly, becoming one of the most recognized Slovene caricaturists.
