The 2024 Giti Australian Formula Open is a multi-event open-wheel single seater motor racing championship. This is the second season of the championship, founded by two-time Australian Gold Star winner Tim Macrow in 2023 as a direct successor to the Australian Formula 3 championship. [1]

Teams and drivers

The championship is structured in four classes. AFO1 encompasses all Formula 3 machinery, with several chassis and engine manufacturers represented. AFO2 caters to Toyota Racing Series, Formula Renault and older F3 cars. AFO3 serves all other invitational entries, while AFO4 is reserved for Formula 4 cars. [2] [3] All cars run on Giti tires, and all drivers and teams are Australian-registered. [4]

Race calendar

The 2024 calendar was first announced on 23 November 2023. It is planned to consist of seven rounds across six circuits mainly situated in southeast Australia, one more than in 2023 as a second round at Sydney Motorsport Park was added. [7]

The 2011 Australian Drivers' Championship was a CAMS sanctioned national motor racing title with the championship winner receiving the 2011 CAMS Gold Star award. The VHT S5000 Australian Drivers' Championship is a current open-wheel road racing series in Australia. The series was created by a merger between two proposed series, Formula Thunder 5000 and Super5000. The series is promoted by the Australian Racing Group.

The 2021 Australian Formula 3 Championship is an Australian open-wheel racing series for FIA Formula 3 cars constructed and conforming to the regulations before and including 2016, having previously been before and including 2011 the previous season. The season began on 5 March 2021 at Sydney Motorsport Park and was planned to finish on 5 December 2021 at The Bend Motorsport Park. Organized by Formula Three Management Pty Ltd, it is to be the 22nd season of Australian Formula 3, with the 2020 season having been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is also the first season where the championship winner would earn a prize S5000 test drive. After the first round at Sydney the remaining rounds had to be cancelled due to COVID-19 travel restrictions being in place. Attention was then turned to the 2022 season.

Nolan Siegel is an American racing driver. He currently competes in the Indy NXT with HMD Motorsports and competes part-time in the IndyCar Series with Dale Coyne Racing. Siegel previously competed in the U.S. F2000 National Championship with DEForce Racing.

The 2023 Australian Formula Open - powered by Racefuels was a multi-event open-wheel single seater motor racing championship. This was the inaugural season of the championship, founded by two-time Australian Gold Star winner Tim Macrow as a direct successor to the Australian Formula 3 championship.

The 2024 Formula Regional Middle East Championship was a multi-event, Formula Regional open-wheel single seater motor racing championship. The championship featured a mix of professional and amateur drivers, competing in Formula Regional cars. It was the second season of the championship, held in January and February of 2024.
