2024 Australian Formula Open

The 2024 Giti Australian Formula Open is a multi-event open-wheel single seater motor racing championship. This is the second season of the championship, founded by two-time Australian Gold Star winner Tim Macrow in 2023 as a direct successor to the Australian Formula 3 championship. [1]

Teams and drivers

The championship is structured in four classes. AFO1 encompasses all Formula 3 machinery, with several chassis and engine manufacturers represented. AFO2 caters to Toyota Racing Series, Formula Renault and older F3 cars. AFO3 serves all other invitational entries, while AFO4 is reserved for Formula 4 cars. [2] [3] All cars run on Giti tires, and all drivers and teams are Australian-registered. [4]

Race calendar

The 2024 calendar was first announced on 23 November 2023. It is planned to consist of seven rounds across six circuits mainly situated in southeast Australia, one more than in 2023 as a second round at Sydney Motorsport Park was added. [9]

The FIA Formula 2 Championship is a second-tier single-seater championship organized by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). Held on racing circuits, the championship was introduced in 2017, following the rebranding of the long-term Formula One feeder series GP2. The series' original founders were Flavio Briatore and current managing director Bruno Michel. While it is not absolutely necessary to do so, most current F1 drivers have participated in either Formula 2 or GP2 before graduating to Formula One.

The 2021 Australian Formula 3 Championship is an Australian open-wheel racing series for FIA Formula 3 cars constructed and conforming to the regulations before and including 2016, having previously been before and including 2011 the previous season. The 2023 Formula Pro USA Western Series was the fourth season of the championship for Formula Regional and Formula 4 cars established in the West Coast of the United States. The championship was promoted and organized by Exclusive Racing and Exclusive Auctions, and ran under the same sporting regulations as the FIA-sanctioned Formula Regional Americas Championship and Formula 4 United States Championship.

The 2024 Formula Regional Middle East Championship was a multi-event, Formula Regional open-wheel single seater motor racing championship. The championship featured a mix of professional and amateur drivers, competing in Formula Regional cars. It was the second season of the championship, held in January and February of 2024.

The 2024 Formula Regional Americas Championship is the seventh season of a FIA-sanctioned F3 series across North America, and the fifth season under the Formula Regional moniker after a rebrand in 2020. The series is promoted by SCCA Pro Racing, the professional racing division of the Sports Car Club of America.
