The 2024 South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics was the eleventh edition of the biennial track and field competition for South American athletes aged under 23 years old, organised by Atletismo Sudamericano. [1] It was held in Bucaramanga, Colombia, between 27 and 29 September.

Atletismo Sudamericano, formerly CONSUDATLE, is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within South America, including the transcontinental country Panama. CONSUDATLE is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA). CONSUDATLE was founded on May 24, 1918, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Therefore, the CONSUDATLE claims to be the oldest athletics area association of the world. The founding members were Argentina, Uruguay, and Andean Chile. Successively, the other countries joined: Brazil in 1922, Ecuador and Peru in 1925, Bolivia in 1930, and Colombia in 1937. Paraguay and Venezuela followed later, and Guyana, Panama, and Suriname joined within the last decades.
The South American U20 Championships in Athletics are the South American championships in the sport of athletics which is open for those in the U20 age category. It is organized by the South American Athletics Confederation.
The South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics is an under-23 athletics competition held between the member associations of the South American Athletics Confederation (ConSudAtle). Rules and regulations are displayed on the ConSudAtle webpage. In 2006 and 2010, the championships were held as part of the athletics section of South American Games (ODESUR).
The 15th South American Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio El Salitre in Bogotá, Colombia from November 4–5, 2000. For the first time, the competition was open for athletes from the age group under 18 (U18) rather than under 17 (U17) as before.
The 17th South American Youth Championships in Athletics were held at the Estadio Modelo in Guayaquil, Ecuador from September 25–26, 2004.
The 39th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held in Medellín, Colombia in the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque from September 23–25, 2011. A detailed report on the results was given.
The 1st South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Barquisimeto, Venezuela, at the Polideportivo Máximo Viloria on June 26–27, 2004.
The 3rd South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Lima, Peru, at the Estadio de la Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA) on September 5–7, 2008.
The 4th South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Medellín, Colombia, at the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque at the Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot on March 20–23, 2010. The championships, organized by CONSUDATLE, were held as a part of the South American Games. A detailed report on the results was given. The most prominent result was achieved in the heat of the women's 100 metres by Ana Cláudia Lemos Silva. Her time of 11.17 equaled the South American and Brazilian record, and set a new championships and games record.
The Federación Colombiana de Atletismo is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Colombia. Current president is Félix Marrugo.
The South American Race Walking Championships is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. Races for senior men and women, for junior and for youth athletes are featured. In addition, there are separate team competitions. The event was established in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup, and was occurring annually at first. The 2001 event was held in conjunction with the Pan American Race Walking Cup. The name as well as the frequency of the competition were changed in 2004.
The 40th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held from October 18–20, 2013 at the Estadio Jaime Zapata in Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina.
The 6th South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Montevideo, Uruguay at Pista de Atletismo Darwin Piñeyrúa on October 3–5, 2014.
The 2016 South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics was the seventh edition of the biennial track and field competition for South American athletes aged under 23 years old, organised by CONSUDATLE. The tournament was held in Lima, Peru at the Villa Deportiva Nacional between 23 and 25 September.
2020 South American Indoor Championships in Athletics was the inaugural edition of the biennial indoor athletics competition between South American nations. The event was held in Cochabamba, Bolivia, on 1 and 2 February at the Estadio de Atletismo del Gobierno Autónomo Municipal de Cochabamba.
The 2022 South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics was the tenth edition of the biennial track and field competition for South American athletes aged under 23 years old, organised by Atletismo Sudamericano. It was held in Cascavel, Brazil, between 29 September and 2 October.
