The 18th Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships were held in the Estadio Olímpico Félix Sánchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, between 2–4 July 2011, and organized by the Federación Dominicana de Asociaciones de Atletismo (FDAA). The event was open for athletes from the invited countries, that are members of the Central American and Caribbean Athletic Confederation (CACAC), in two categories: Junior A Category: 17 to 19 years as of 31 December 2010, and Junior B Category: 14 to 16 years as of 31 December 2010. By IAAF standards, Junior A is equal to Junior, while Junior B is equal to Youth.

The 16th Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships were held in the Estadio Rafael Hernández Ochoa in Coatzacoalcos, Veracruz, Mexico, between 25–27 June 2004. The games were originally planned to be held in San Salvador, El Salvador. However, they were relocated to the state of Veracruz in Mexico in early 2004. The 18th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held in Quito, Ecuador, at the Estadio Los Chasquis between September 13–16, 1986.

The 21st South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held in Montevideo, Uruguay from June 16th –19th, 1989.

The 1996 Ibero-American Championships in Athletics was the seventh edition of the international athletics competition between Ibero-American nations which was held at the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque in Medellín, Colombia from 9–12 May.

The 37th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held at the Estádio Ícaro de Castro Melo in São Paulo, Brazil from June 30-July 1, 2007. The Champions for men's 10,000m, both Race Walking and Combined Events were extracted from the classification of the 2007 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships held at the same site one week later from July 6 to July 8, 2007. A detailed report on the results was given. Best performances were the two South American Junior records by Alonso Edward from Panamá in 10.28s in the men's 100m competition, and Jorge McFarlane from Perú who achieved 13.76s (0.0 m/s) in the first heat in 110m hurdles men.

The 38th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held in São Paulo, Brazil in the Estádio Ícaro de Castro Melo from July 25–26, 2009. The Champions for men’s 10,000m, both Race Walking and Combined Events were extracted from the classification of the 2009 Pan American Junior Championships held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago in the Hasely Crawford Stadium from July 31 to August 2, 2009. The 18th South American Youth Championships in Athletics were held in Caracas, Venezuela from October 14–15, 2006. The event was relocated from the Estadio Pueblo Nuevo in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela, because the renovation of the stadium for the Copa América de Fútbol 2007 was not yet completed. The 3rd South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Lima, Peru, at the Estadio de la Villa Deportiva Nacional (VIDENA) on September 5–7, 2008.

The 4th South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in Medellín, Colombia, at the Estadio Alfonso Galvis Duque at the Unidad Deportiva Atanasio Girardot on March 20–23, 2010. The championships, organized by CONSUDATLE, were held as a part of the South American Games. A detailed report on the results was given. The most prominent result was achieved in the heat of the women's 100 metres by Ana Cláudia Lemos Silva. Her time of 11.17 equaled the South American and Brazilian record, and set a new championships and games record.

The 2012 South American Under-23 Championships in Athletics were held in São Paulo, Brazil, at the Estádio Ícaro de Castro Melo from 22 to 23 September 2012. They were the 5th edition of the competition, organised under the supervision of the CONSUDATLE. A detailed report on the results was given. Brazilian shot putters Geisa Arcanjo who achieved 18.43m in the women's event, and Darlan Romani who achieved 19.93m in the men's event, were awarded the title for the best performance of the event.

The 40th South American Junior Championships in Athletics were held from October 18–20, 2013 at the Estadio Jaime Zapata in Resistencia, Chaco, Argentina.
