The 2024 Zim Afro T10 was the second season of the Zim Afro T10. [1] The tournament was held from 21 to 29 September at the Harare Sports Club. [2] Durban Wolves, formerly known as Durban Qalandars, were the defending champions. [3] [4] [5]

In the final, Joburg Bangla Tigers defeated Cape Town Samp Army by five runs to win their inaugural title.

Background

On 7 September 2024, it was announced that the Zim Afro T10 would return for a second season, being held from 21 September to 29 September at Harare Sports Club in Harare. On 8 September, the players draft was held to determine the lineups of the six franchises.

Harare Hurricanes and Bulawayo Braves were replaced by Harare Bolts and Bulawayo Brave Jaguars respectively.

Six franchises have chosen their direct signings before going into the draft, to complete their 15-man squad with an additional 16th player as global icon. [7] [8]

A total of 600 players from 23 cricket playing countries participated in the draft. Former Zimbabwean captain and batsman Sikandar Raza was the first pick. [9] [10]

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC), previously known as the Zimbabwe Cricket Union (ZCU) until 2004, is the governing body for the sport of cricket in Zimbabwe. Zimbabwe Cricket is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC), and administers the Zimbabwe national cricket team, organising Test tours, One-Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals with other nations. The Pakistan cricket team toured Zimbabwe between 28 August and 18 September 2011. Pakistan played one Test, three One Day Internationals and two Twenty20 Internationals against the Zimbabwe national team, and one first-class match against a Zimbabwean representative side.

The England cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 1 October to 13 October 2001 for a five-match One Day International (ODI) series, with three matches in Harare and two in Bulawayo. England won all five matches.

The England cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 28 November to 5 December 2004 for a four-match One Day International (ODI) series, with two matches in Harare and two in Bulawayo. England won all four matches. Foreign journalists were originally banned from covering the series, but the Zimbabwean government lifted the ban for some journalists on 25 November; however, this delay in getting accreditation for the journalists resulted in the cancellation of the first of the five planned ODIs that was due to have taken place on 26 November.

The Pakistan national cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 23 August to 14 September 2013. The tour consisted of two Twenty20 International matches, three One Day International matches, and two Test matches. The limited overs matches was played at the Harare Sports Club while the Test matches were split between Harare and the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo.

2020 Pakistan Super League was the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. It started on 20 February 2020. The league was held entirely in Pakistan for the first time. Karachi Kings won their first title after defeating Lahore Qalandars by five wickets in the final.

The 2018 Mzansi Super League was the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL) Twenty20 (T20) franchise cricket tournament in South Africa. It started on 16 November and finished on 16 December 2018. Six teams played a total of thirty-two matches. The players' draft took place on 17 October 2018, with more than 200 international players expressing their interest to take part.

2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.

The Zim Afro T10 is a T10 cricket league in Zimbabwe, with teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria. The league is owned by T Ten Sports Management and was launched in 2023 in association with Zimbabwe Cricket. The tournament uses a double round-robin followed by a series of playoff matches. The inaugural edition of the tournament was played in July 2023.

The 2023 Abu Dhabi T10 was the seventh season of the Abu Dhabi T10. The matches had a 10-over-a-side format with a time duration of 90 minutes. The tournament was played from 28 November to 9 December 2023 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. Deccan Gladiators were the defending champions, having claiming their second title in the final of the previous edition.

The 2023 Zim Afro T10 was the inaugural season of the Zim Afro T10. The tournament was played from 21 to 29 July at the Harare Sports Club. In the final, Durban Qalandars defeated Joburg Buffaloes by eight wickets to win the inaugural title.

The 2023–24 SA20 was the second season of the SA20, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in South Africa, organised by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The tournament started from 10 January and final was played on 10 February 2024. Sunrisers Eastern Cape were the defending champions.

The 2024 Global T20 Canada was the fourth edition of Global T20 Canada, a Twenty20 professional cricket tournament that was played at the TD Cricket Arena in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. The tournament began on 25 July and the final was played on 11 August 2024. Montreal Tigers were the defending champions.

The 2023–24 Pro50 Championship is the 21st edition of the Pro50 Championship, a List A cricket tournament that will be played in Zimbabwe. It started on 20 October 2023 and will continue until December 2023. The Mountaineers were the defending champions.
