The 2024 Zim Afro T10 is the second season of the Zim Afro T10. [1] The tournament is being played from 21 to 29 September at the Harare Sports Club. [2] Durban Wolves, formerly known as Durban Qalandars, are the defending champions. [3] [4] [5]

Background

On 7 September 2024, it was announced that the Zim Afro T10 would return for a second season, being held from 21 September to 29 September at Harare Sports Club in Harare. On 8 September, the players draft was held to determine the lineups of the six franchises.

Harare Hurricanes and Bulawayo Braves were replaced by Harare Bolts and Bulawayo Brave Jaguars respectively.

Teams and squads

Six franchises have chosen their direct signings before going into the draft, to complete their 15-man squad with an additional 16th player as global icon. [7] [8]

A total of 600 players from 23 cricket playing countries participated in the draft. Former Zimbabwean captain and batsman Sikandar Raza was the first pick. [9] [10]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Harare Sports Club</span> Cricket stadium

Harare Sports Club is a sports club and the Harare Sports Club Ground is a cricket stadium in Harare, Zimbabwe. Founded in 1900 and known as Salisbury Sports Club until 1982, it is mostly used for cricket matches, and has served as the primary cricket venue in Rhodesia and Zimbabwe since its foundation. Other sports played at the club are rugby, tennis, golf and squash.

The England cricket team toured Zimbabwe from 1 October to 13 October 2001 for a five-match One Day International (ODI) series, with three matches in Harare and two in Bulawayo. England won all five matches.

The 2016 Pakistan Super League was the debut season of the Pakistan Super League which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board. The Bangladesh cricket team toured Zimbabwe in July 2021 to play one Test, three One Day International (ODI), and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The ODI series formed part of the inaugural 2020–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. Bangladesh last toured Zimbabwe in April and May 2013. Originally, two Test matches were scheduled to be played on the tour, but one of the Tests was replaced with an additional T20I match.

The Bangladesh cricket team toured Zimbabwe in July and August 2022 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. The original tour schedule was for two Test matches and three ODIs, but the Test matches were replaced by the T20I fixtures. All the matches took place at the Harare Sports Club. Prior to the series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named Nurul Hasan as their T20I captain for the tour, after Mahmudullah lacked performance and results. However, Nurul suffered a finger injury during the second T20I match and was ruled out of the rest of the tour. The BCB named Mosaddek Hossain as the team's captain for the third T20I match.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023 Pakistan Super League</span> Pakistani domestic franchise cricket tournament

2023 Pakistan Super League was the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league which was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2015. Then PCB chairman Ramiz Raja had hinted at an auction based system to replace the draft for the 2023 season but a draft was retained. The draft for the tournament was held on 15 December in Karachi. A total of 36 foreign players were picked alongside local players. Lahore Qalandars were the defending champions.

The 2022 Abu Dhabi T10 was the sixth season of the Abu Dhabi T10. The matches had a 10-over-a-side format with a time duration of 90 minutes. The tournament was played from 23 November to 4 December 2022 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium.

The 2022–23 SA20 was the inaugural season of the SA20, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in South Africa, organised by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The tournament was played from 10 January to 12 February 2023. SuperSport, Sky Sports and the Sports18 network broadcast the tournament in South Africa, the United Kingdom and India respectively.

The Ireland cricket team toured Zimbabwe in January 2023 to play three One Day International (ODI) and three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Zimbabwe won the T20I series 2–1. The ODI series was drawn 1–1 after the final match ended with no result due to rain.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Zim Afro T10</span> T10 cricket tournament

The Zim Afro T10 is a T10 cricket league in Zimbabwe, with teams from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Nigeria. The league is owned by T Ten Sports Management and was launched in 2023 in association with Zimbabwe Cricket. The tournament uses a double round-robin followed by a series of playoff matches. The inaugural edition of the tournament was played in July 2023.

The West Indies men's cricket team toured Zimbabwe in February 2023 to play two Test matches. In December 2022, the Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) confirmed the fixtures. The first game of the series was Zimbabwe's first Test match after an 18-month gap since they played a home series against Bangladesh in July 2021 and the fourth time that the West Indies have toured Zimbabwe since 2000, with the most recent tour being in 2017; the tourists had won the three previous series without losing a Test match. West Indies won the series 1–0 after claiming an innings victory over Zimbabwe in the second Test.

The 2023 Abu Dhabi T10 was the seventh season of the Abu Dhabi T10. The matches had a 10-over-a-side format with a time duration of 90 minutes. The tournament was played from 28 November to 9 December 2023 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium. Deccan Gladiators were the defending champions, having claiming their second title in the final of the previous edition.

The 2023 Zim Afro T10 was the inaugural season of the Zim Afro T10. The tournament was played from 21 to 29 July at the Harare Sports Club. In the final, Durban Qalandars defeated Joburg Buffaloes by eight wickets to win the inaugural title.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">2023–24 SA20</span> Second season of the SA20

The 2023–24 SA20 was the second season of the SA20, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in South Africa, organised by Cricket South Africa (CSA). The tournament started from 10 January and final was played on 10 February 2024. Sunrisers Eastern Cape were the defending champions.

The 2023–24 Pro50 Championship is the 21st edition of the Pro50 Championship, a List A cricket tournament that will be played in Zimbabwe. It started on 20 October 2023 and will continue until December 2023. The Mountaineers were the defending champions.
