500 Boylston Street is a 1.3-million square foot postmodern building located in the Back Bay section of Boston and part of the city's High Spine, completed in 1989. It is located next to the landmark Trinity Church, Boston. It dominates the western half of the city block bounded by Boylston, Clarendon and Berkeley streets and St. James Avenue. The building was designed by John Burgee Architects with Philip Johnson, with structural engineering by LeMessurier Consultants and MEP/FP engineering by Cosentini Associates, Inc. The construction project was managed by Bond Brothers. It cost $100 million to build. The site contains approximately 137,000 square feet (12,700 m2) of land area, with approximately 500 feet (150 m) of frontage on Boylston Street. [1]
The first six floors are retail and small office space. Above that there is a 19-story office tower with Class A office space. It has approximately 715,000 square feet (66,400 m2) of office space. It has an underground parking lot for 1,000 cars that it shares with 222 Berkeley Street.
The structural design is made up of composite beams and girders supporting steel deck and concrete topping slab on a steel frame. The 25-story superstructure is founded on 6-foot (1.8 m) thick foundation mat bearing on clay. The 6-story low-rise is founded on spread footings, hold down piles (tension piles) and 24-inch (610 mm) pressure slab designed to resist a hydrostatic head of approximately 25 feet (7.6 m). [2] The parking garage is made up of slurry wall construction.
The building's distinctive design includes carved rose granite cladding with two-story windows, a vaulted copper roof line, and strong exterior column detailing. The design, by John Burgee Architects with Philip Johnson as Design Consultant, also includes a main building entrance through a courtyard, framed on each side by two symmetrical wings, each faced with soaring columns. 500 Boylston Street is seen on the television show Boston Legal . The fictional law firm Crane, Poole & Schmidt's Boston office is located on the building's 14th, 15th and a fictional 28th floor due to the building only having 25 floors. There are also no balconies attached to these floors where Boston Legal was set.
The Prudential Tower, also known as the Prudential Building or, colloquially, the Pru, is an international style skyscraper in Boston, Massachusetts. The Federal Reserve Bank Building is the sixth tallest building in Boston, Massachusetts. It is located at Dewey Square, on the convergence of Fort Point and the Financial District neighborhoods. In close proximity to the Boston Harbor, the Fort Point Channel and major intermodal South Station terminal, the building is marked by a distinctive opening near ground level which allows sea breezes to pass through.
Southeast Financial Center is a two-acre development in Miami, Florida, United States. It consists of a 765 feet (233 m) tall office skyscraper and its 15-story parking garage. It was previously known as the Southeast Financial Center (1984–1992), the First Union Financial Center (1992–2003) and the Wachovia Financial Center (2003–2011). In 2011, it retook its old name of Southeast Financial Center as Wachovia merged with Wells Fargo and moved to the nearby Wells Fargo Center.
33 Arch Street is a contemporary highrise in the Financial District and Downtown Crossing neighborhoods of Boston, Massachusetts. It overlooks Post Office Square Park and was designed by Jung Brannen Associates. A previous building on the site at 101 Milk Street was the headquarters of the Boston Elevated Railway until about 1919.
125 High Street is a 30-floor postmodern highrise in the Financial District of Boston, Massachusetts. Standing 452 feet tall, the highrise is currently the 30th-tallest building in the city. 125 High Street has approximately 1.8 million square feet of Class A office space. Sennott Square is a major academic building on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The building designed by the architectural firm JSA was dedicated on September 5, 2002, and was the largest Pitt academic building constructed since 1978. The six-story, 248,000 gross-square-foot facility cost approximately $35 million and occupies a city block and is bounded by Sennott and Bouquet streets and Forbes and Oakland avenues. It combines classroom and office space with retail space on the ground floor facing Forbes and Oakland Avenues.
One South at The Plaza is a 503 feet (153 m), 40-story skyscraper in Charlotte, North Carolina. It is the 7th tallest in the city. 8 Spruce Street, previously known as the Beekman Tower and New York by Gehry, is a residential skyscraper on Spruce Street in the Financial District of Manhattan is New York City. Designed by architect Frank Gehry + Gehry Partners LLP and developed by Forest City Ratner, the building rises 870 feet with 76 stories. WSP Cantor Seinuk was the lead structural engineer, Jaros, Baum & Bolles provided MEP engineering, and Kreisler Borg Florman was construction manager. 8 Spruce Street was the tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere at the time of opening in February 2011.
901 New York Avenue NW is a mid-rise Postmodern high-rise located in Downtown Washington, D.C., in the United States. The structure was developed by Boston Properties to help revitalize the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood, and was completed in 2005. It is located on a roughly triangular parcel bounded by New York Avenue NW, K Street NW, and 10th Street NW. It is north of the CityCenterDC mixed-use residential, office, and retail project.
Crosstown Concourse is a mixed-use development in Memphis, Tennessee. Originally built in 1927 as a Sears retail store and catalog order plant, the building was closed in 1993. A 2015–2017 renovation brought in retail, restaurants, office spaces, and apartments.
Bulfinch Crossing is a redevelopment project currently under construction in Downtown Boston, Massachusetts, United States. It will consist of two skyscrapers, a smaller residential tower, a low-rise office building, a hotel, and a low-rise retail building. Site preparation began in late 2015, and construction officially commenced on January 24, 2017. Construction on the residential tower completed in 2020. The high-rise office tower, One Congress, commenced construction in 2019 and topped off in July 2021; after an announced plan to open in 2022, it officially opened in September 2023.
Molasky Corporate Center is a 17-story office and retail building in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada. It was developed by Irwin Molasky's company, The Molasky Group. Construction began in 2005, and the building was topped off in July 2006, before opening in August 2007. The Molasky Corporate Center is a green building designed with energy efficient features which earned it a Gold certification from the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). The Southern Nevada Water Authority is a major tenant in the building, and owns five of its office floors.
