The Acrisure Classic is a four-team NCAA Division I college basketball showcase event. Three games are played at campus sites in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, and the event culminates with a nationally televised game on Thanksgiving Day. The inaugural event took place in 2023. Following the games at campus sites, the final game was played at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California. [1]

Contents

The field will expand to 16 teams in 2024, featuring 12 men's and four women's teams, which would play two five-day tournaments and a total of 18 games during Thanksgiving week. [2]

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Maui Invitational</span> Early season college basketball tournament

The Maui Invitational, currently sponsored as the Allstate Maui Invitational, is an annual early-season college basketball tournament that takes place Thanksgiving week, normally in Lahaina, Hawaii, at the Lahaina Civic Center on the island of Maui. It is hosted by Chaminade University of Honolulu, an NCAA Division II school. Seven NCAA Division I men's basketball teams are invited to Maui to complete the field. The Maui Invitational has been played since 1984 and is carried by ESPN. Camping World became the title sponsor for the 2020 Tournament only. Maui Jim became the title sponsor of the tournament in 2015 and returned as title sponsor in 2021 and 2022; the previous fourteen tournaments were sponsored by EA Sports. The Maui Invitational and Allstate announced a new title partnership starting for the 2023 tournament, which will be held in Oʻahu because of the Maui wildfires.

The 1979 NCAA Division I basketball tournament involved 40 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 9 and ended with the championship game on March 26 in Salt Lake City. A total of 40 games were played, including a national third-place game. This was the tournament's only edition with forty teams; the previous year's had 32, and it expanded to 48 in 1980. The 1979 Indiana State team was the most recent squad to reach a national title game with an undefeated record, holding that distinction for 42 years until the 2021 Gonzaga Bulldogs team won a 93-90 OT national semifinal over UCLA to reach the 2021 title contest vs. Baylor with a 31-0 record.

It began on March 13, 2001, with the play-in game, and ended with the championship game on April 2 in Minneapolis, at the Metrodome. A total of 64 games were played.

The Pac-12 Conference men's basketball tournament, otherwise known as the Pac-12 tournament, is the annual concluding tournament for the NCAA college basketball in the Pac-12, taking place in Las Vegas at the T-Mobile Arena. The two final round games are played on the campus of Northwest Florida State College in Niceville, Florida. The tournament will be presented by Global Sports. First and second-round games are played at on-campus sites, with the third round and championship round scheduled Thanksgiving weekend at Northwest Florida State College.

The UT Arlington Mavericks men's basketball team is an NCAA Division I college basketball team competing in the Western Athletic Conference. Home games are played at College Park Center, located on the University of Texas at Arlington's campus in Arlington. The SoCal Challenge is an eight-team college basketball tournament held during Monday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week of the NCAA Division I men's basketball season, with the inaugural tournament taking place in 2021. Following games held at campus sites, teams are placed into either the Sand Division or the Surf Division and compete for the tournament title in their division. Semifinal and final games are held at The Pavilion at JSerra in San Juan Capistrano, California. Each of the games played on campus in the days leading up to the main event involves one team from each division. The event is hosted by the Big West Conference.

The team is led by Tommy Lloyd, in his third season as head coach. It is the Wildcats' 50th season at the on-campus McKale Center in Tucson, Arizona. It is their 45th and final season as members of the Pac-12 Conference. With 29 victories during the season, Lloyd can pass Brad Stevens with the most victories in the first three years by a head coach to start their career.

The Rady Children's Invitational is an early-season men's college basketball competition that begins in 2023. It is named for Rady Children's Hospital, affiliated with the UC San Diego School of Medicine.
