The Acrisure Invitational is a four-team NCAA Division I college basketball tournament played on the two days following Thanksgiving, at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California. [1]

The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) is an NCAA Division I conference. The WAC covers a broad expanse of the western United States with member institutions located in Arizona, California, Texas, Utah and Washington.

The San Diego State Aztecs men's basketball team is the college basketball program that represents San Diego State University, located in San Diego, California. The team currently competes in the Mountain West Conference (MW) and plays its home games at Viejas Arena. The Aztecs began play in 1921 and have been to fifteen NCAA Division I tournaments and six NIT tournaments since joining NCAA Division I in 1969, the best finish coming recently in the 2023 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. The team previously reached three NCAA Division II tournaments and six NAIA tournaments, winning the latter in 1941. Since joining the Mountain West Conference, the Aztecs have won seven tournament championships and nine regular season titles. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) is a public research university with multiple campus throughout the Rio Grande Valley region of Texas. It is the southernmost member of the University of Texas System. The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley was created by the Texas Legislature in 2013 after the consolidation of the University of Texas at Brownsville/Texas Southmost College and the University of Texas–Pan American.

The 2017–18 Seattle Redhawks men's basketball team represented Seattle University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Redhawks, led by first-year head coach Jim Hayford, played their home games at KeyArena and the Connolly Center as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 20–14, 8–6 in WAC play to finish in fourth place. It was the Redhawks' first 20-win season since 2008 and first 20-win season in Division I play since the 1960s.

The Redhawks, led by second-year head coach Jim Hayford, play their home games at the Redhawk Center, with two home games at the ShoWare Center, as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 18–15, 6–10 in WAC play to finish in a tie for seventh place. They were defeated by Grand Canyon in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament. They received an invitation to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they lost in the first round to Presbyterian.
The 2018–19 Texas–Rio Grande Valley Vaqueros men's basketball team represented the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley during the 2018–19 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Vaqueros, led by third-year head coach Lew Hill, played their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse, with one home game at Bert Ogden Arena, as members of the Western Athletic Conference. With their win on February 28, the Vaqueros clinched a winning regular season record for the first time since the 2007–08 season. They finished the season 20–17, 9–7 in WAC play to finish in fourth place. They defeated Cal State Bakersfield in the quarterfinals of the WAC tournament before losing in the semifinals to New Mexico State. They were invited to the CollegeInsider.com Tournament where they defeated Grambling State in the first round before losing in the second round to Texas Southern.

Acrisure Arena is a multi-purpose 10,000-seat indoor arena in the unincorporated community of Thousand Palms in Riverside County, California's, Coachella Valley Palm Springs Area. The arena opened in December 2022 on 43.35 acres (17.54 ha) of land near the city of Palm Desert, between Interstate 10 and the Classic Club golf course. It is the home arena for the American Hockey League's Coachella Valley Firebirds. Acrisure, a financial technology company, paid an undisclosed sum for 10 years of naming rights.

The Vaqueros, led by fourth-year head coach Lew Hill, played their home games at the UTRGV Fieldhouse in Edinburg, Texas as members of the Western Athletic Conference. They finished the season 14–16, 9–7 in WAC play to finish in third place. They were set to be the No. 2 seed in the WAC tournament, however, the tournament was cancelled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three games are played at campus sites in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, and the event culminates with a nationally televised game on Thanksgiving Day. The inaugural event took place in 2023. Following the games at campus sites, the final game was played at Acrisure Arena in Thousand Palms, California.
