Sealdah Railway Station is one of India's major railway terminals serving the city of Kolkata. The other main railway stations in the Kolkata metropolitan area are Howrah, Shalimar, Dankuni, Kolkata and Santragachi. It is the busiest railway station in India in terms of daily passenger's footfall with over 1.2 million. It is an important suburban rail terminal. Kolkata Metro Line 2 passes through Sealdah with the new underground Sealdah metro station.

Trains operate between 06:55 and 22:30 IST and the fares range from ₹5 to ₹25.

The Kolkata Metro Line 4 or the Yellow Line, also known as the Noapara - Barasat Line of the Kolkata Metro in India is a 16.876 km (10.486 mi) long metro route from Noapara to Barasat in North 24 Parganas, which is under construction. It is being built by RVNL, Senbo & ITD. It will run mostly underground viaducts. It will run elevated until Jessore Road Station and then it goes underground towards Barasat metro station. It will have an interchange station at the NSCBI Airport with Kolkata Metro Line 6.
Kolkata Metro Line 6 or the Orange Line of the Kolkata Metro is an under-construction rapid transit line that will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two satellite towns Salt Lake and New Town. The line is targeted to open from Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay in 2023 but it is delayed indefinitely for now. This stretch will be one of the most important stretches of the metro because it will connect the southern and the eastern parts of the city with Kolkata Airport. Total distance of this route will be 29.87 km (18.56 mi).
Satyajit Ray Metro Station is a station of the Kolkata Metro Line 6 in Chak Garia, E.M. Bypass, Kolkata, India. The station is named in honour of the great Bengali filmmaker Satyajit Ray. The elevated structure is located above the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass with the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute and the Baghajatin Peerless Hospital on the eastern side and the Hiland Park condominium on the western side.
