Algur is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Sindgi taluk of Bijapur district.

Originally known as the State of Mysore, it was renamed Karnataka in 1973. The state corresponds to the Carnatic region. The capital and largest city is Bangalore (Bengaluru).

Bijapur district, officially known as Vijaypur district, is a district in the state of Karnataka in India. The city of Bijapur is the headquarters of the district, and is located 530 km northwest of Bangalore. Bijapur is well known for the great monuments of historical importance built during the Adil Shahi dynasty.

In the 2011 census, Algur had 800 families with a population of 4,110, consisting of 2,069 males and 2,041 females.^[1] The population of children aged 0–6 was 638, making up 15.52% of the total population of the village.^[1] The average sex ratio was 986 out of 1000, which is higher than the state average of 973 out of 1000.^[1] The child sex ratio in the village was 973 out of 1000, which is higher than the average of 948 out of 1000 in the state of Karnataka.^[1]
