Ancheri is a residential area situated in the City of Thrissur in Kerala state of India. Ancheri is Ward 25 of Thrissur Municipal Corporation. [1] [2]

Thrissur is a city and capital of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. It is the third largest urban agglomeration in Kerala after Kochi and Kozhikode urban areas and the 20th largest in India. Thrissur is also known as the "cultural capital of Kerala" because of its cultural, spiritual and religious leanings throughout history. The city is built around a 65-acre (26 ha) hillock called the Thekkinkadu Maidan which seats the Vadakkumnathan temple. Thrissur was once the capital of the Kingdom of Cochin. It is located 300 kilometres (186 mi) towards north-west of the state capital Thiruvananthapuram. One of the main cultural events in Thrissur is the Thrissur Pooram, which attracts quite a number of tourists and travellers.

It is one of the oldest stadiums in Kerala, India and have a capacity to hold 15,000 people. The stadium was the home ground for international footballers like I.M.Vijayan, Jo Paul Ancheri etc. Recently the stadium is under renovation, and is being lifted to international standards. The stadium has the first synthetic football turf in Kerala state and the only football field in India to currently have a FIFA 2 star certification.

The 1999–2000 Santosh Trophy was the 56th edition of the Santosh Trophy, the main State competition for football in India. It was held from 9 to 23 April 2000 in Thrissur and Chalakudy, Kerala. Twenty-eight teams from all over the country were supposed to take part in the national state championships, but six pulled out. Maharashtra beat the home team of Kerala 1–0 in the final.

Thrissur Pooram Exhibition

Thrissur Pooram Exhibition or commonly known as the All India Agricultural, Industrial, Educational and Cultural Exhibition is an exhibition organised jointly by Paramekkavu Bagavathi Temple Devaswom and Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna Temple Devaswom, ahead of Thrissur Pooram in Thekkinkadu Maidan in Thrissur city. It is usually conducted over a period of 40 to 50 days during the Thrissur Pooram.The exhibition is the largest in Kerala in terms of attendance and floor space.

The Thrissur Municipal Corporation is the civic body that governs the Thrissur city in Kerala, India. It is the third largest city Corporation in the state of Kerala by area and population. Established as a Municipality since 1921 under the Cochin Municipal Regulations, it is responsible for civic infrastructure and administration; the distribution of electricity and water for Thrissur city. The Corporation manages 101.42 km of Thrissur city limits of through 55 wards through five zones Ayyanthole, Vilvattom, Ollukkara, Ollur and Koorkanchery.
