Anomochloa is a monotypic genus of flowering plants in the grass family, Poaceae. It is one of the two genera in its subfamily and the only genus in the tribe Anomochloeae. [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] The only known species is Anomochloa marantoidea, native to the State of Bahia in eastern Brazil. [7]
Anomochloa is a terrestrial, [1] perennial, rhizomatous [8] herb. [1]
The oblong, laterally compressed [8] 10 mm long, and 2.5 mm wide caryopsis [1] has an adherent pericarp. [8]
The diploid chromosome count of Anomochloa is 2n = 36. [9]
It was published by Adolphe Théodore Brongniart in 1851. [2] Within the subfamily Anomochlooideae, it is placed in its own monotypic tribe Anomochloeae. [10] [11]
It is an endangered [1] [12] and extremely rare species. [13]
