Anones is a barrio in the municipality of Naranjito, Puerto Rico. Its population in 2010 was 4,976. [3] [4] [5] Anones is located to the South of the urban center of the municipality. There are schools and shops here and it is the most mountainous area of the municipality. [6]
Anones was in Spain's gazetteers [7] until Puerto Rico was ceded by Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish–American War under the terms of the Treaty of Paris of 1898 and became an unincorporated territory of the United States. In 1899, the United States Department of War conducted a census of Puerto Rico finding that the population of Anones barrio was 1,420. [8]
