Anwesshaa (born Anwesha Mita Dattagupta; 15 December 1993 [1] [2] [3] [4] ) is an Indian singer and composer in Hindi, Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi and other Indian languages. She first appeared in the reality show Amul STAR Voice of India , Chhote Ustaad at the age of 13.

Biography

Anwesha is a student of Lycée School, Kolkata. She was born into a Baidya Brahmin family in Virar, Maharashtra. When she was four, the family shifted base to their hometown in Kolkata. She went to school in Lycee. Later on, she completed her graduation from Amity University. [1]

Music career

Anwesshaa appeared on national television for the first time in the year 2007. Thereafter, she has been a part of various other shows. She started her career as a playback singer with the song "Ek Je Achhe Raja" in the Bengali film Khela (2008). Anwesshaa's first breakthrough in Bollywood was in Golmaal Returns for Pritam Chakraborty at the age of 14. She has recorded songs for many films including 'I am 24, Raanjhanaa', 'Revolver Rani', 'Dangerous Ishq', 'Panchlait', 'I am Banni', 'Kaanchi', 'Prem Ratan Dhan payo', 'Expose', 'Gurudakshina', 'Do lafzon ki kahani', 'Ye Kaisa Tigdam', 'Bansuri', 'I Love Desi', 'Love you Soniyo', 'Dhoop chaav, Malhar' and others. Apart from Hindi and Bengali, she has also made her debut with other Indian languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Nepali, Rajasthani, Bhojpuri and also in Bangladeshi films. Her playbacks are for around 500 movies across all languages to date. She has received honours like Filmfare Award (East), [2]

Anwesha performed in Sabujer Deshe in 2000 (ETV Bangla). She was a Mega Finalist in Tarana music competition (1st Schedule) which was telecast in January 2003 (ETV Bangla). In early 2007, she also participated in the musical game show Antakshari (Star Plus) where she represented East Zone.[ citation needed ]

In 2023, she composed music and background score for Marathi film Pahije Jatiche , made her debut in Marathi cinema. [3]

Amul STAR Voice of India Chhote Ustaad

In 2007–08, she participated in the juniors version of the popular musical reality show Amul STAR Voice of India named Chhote Ustaad. Aishwarya Majmudar was winner and Anwesha became runner up in competition. [11]

The show was directed by Gajendra Singh, creator of the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa series, and produced by Urban Brew Studios. It also featured judges from the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa series, Aadesh Shrivastava, Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Alka Yagnik, Lalit Pandit and Jatin Pandit. Shaan, who had previously been hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. Anandalok Puraskar or Anandalok Awards ceremony is an award ceremony for Bengali film in India. The Anandalok, only film magazine in Bengali language, published from Ananda Publishers and Ananda Bazar Patrika presents this award (Puraskar). The magazine was started on 25 January 1975 and the awards ceremony was started in 1998.

Aishwarya Majmudar is an Indian singer. She gained popularity after winning the 2007–08 musical reality show STAR Voice of India - Chhote Ustad at the age of 15. She was highly praised for her performances by the judges throughout the show. She won the competition with Anwesha Datta Gupta. She also took part in Music Ka Maha Muqabala in Himesh Reshamiya's "Himesh's Warriors" team. She has sung several songs for Gujarati and Hindi films. She was also seen in Antakshari – The Great Challenge.

Since then, he has gone on to compose, write lyrics and sing for many Bengali films.

Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar 2 is an Indian reality show which is running on STAR Plus. It is in its 2nd season. Its 1st season premiered on 11 April 2008 and ended on 12 July 2008 now it has again started from 31 March 2012 and its finale was on 24 June 2012 Irfan won the title of Jo Jeeta Wohi Super Star 2, Sreeram took the 2nd place while Akanksha took the 3rd place

Phagun Bou is an Indian Bengali television soap opera that premiered on 19 March 2018 on Star Jalsha. It was produced under Magic Moments Motion Pictures of Saibal Banerjee and Leena Gangopadhyay. The show starred Vikram Chatterjee and Oindrila Sen in lead roles and Koushik Roy in a negative role.

<i>Irabotir Chupkotha</i> Indian television series

Irabotir Chupkotha is an Indian Bengali-language television drama television series which aired on Bengali GEC Star Jalsha and is available on the digital platform Hotstar. It premiered on 3 September 2018 to 2 August 2020 and was telecast daily. The show was produced by Acropoliis Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. and featured Monami Ghosh and Syed Arefin in lead roles.

Indrani is a Bengali romantic drama film directed by Niren Lahiri based on a story of Achintya Kumar Sengupta. This film was released in 1958 under the banner of H.N.C. Productions. Nachiketa Ghosh was the music director of the movie. The film starring Uttam Kumar and Suchitra Sen in lead role. This was the first Bengali film where the legendary playback singer Mohammed Rafi was sing. Later he worked with Uttam Kumar in 1967 film Chhoti Si Mulaqat. The film become blockbuster hit at the box office and ran over 70 days in theaters.

<i>Netaji</i> (TV series) Bengali television soap opera about the life of Subhash Chandra Bose

Netaji is a Bengali biographical soap opera on the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose that premiered on 14 January 2019 and aired on Bengali GEC Zee Bangla. Based majorly on Udyata Kharga Subhash by Achintya Kumar Sengupta and produced by Surinder Films, the series stars Abhishek Bose in the eponymous role, with Basabdatta Chatterjee, marking her comeback on television, Dhruvajyoti Sarkar, Kaushik Chakraborty, Sriparna Roy, Debopriyo Sarkar, Sohan Bandopadhyay, Fahim Mirza appearing in other recurring roles. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the shooting of the series was stalled. It was rumoured that along with Karunamoyee Rani Rashmoni, this series will be axed the channel. Putting rest to such rumours, the shooting started from June 11 and new episodes started to air from June 15, 2020.The show went off air on 1 st August 2020.

61 Garpar Lane is a Bengali social drama film directed by Rajesh Dutta, Ipsita Roy sarkar and produced by Abhishek De Sarkar. This film was released on 17 February 2017 under the banner of Actor Studio. Nachiketa Chakraborty is the music director of the movie.
