Atlantic was a Staten Island Railway station in the neighborhood of Tottenville, Staten Island, New York. With the condition of the station having deteriorated after the 1990s, this station, and the Nassau station to the north, were replaced by a new station at Arthur Kill Road. When that station opened in January 2017, Atlantic station closed and was subsequently demolished.
The station's exact opening date is not certain, but it is known that the station opened between 1909 [1] and 1911. [2] The station was primarily built to serve the workers of the former Atlantic Terra Cotta Company factory, from where the station name originated. [4] The pedestrian overpass was built in the 1930s. There used to be a grade crossing adjacent to the station, and at least until the 1970s, a small shanty that protected it still existed. [5]
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority purchased and gained control of the Staten Island Rapid Transit in 1971, and started to modernize the rail line. The stations on the line were modernized again in the 1990s, with the exception of Atlantic, and the nearby Nassau station, which also was built to serve a factory. As a result, these two stations were the only visual remains of a time when the SIRT built new platforms in the 1960s during a multi-phase grade elimination project farther north but without adding new canopies or shelters at these stops. Instead, these two stations were set to be replaced with a new ADA-accessible station in between the two at Arthur Kill Road. [6] [3] However, the funds required for the construction of the project were not available, pushing back the construction of the project to 2013. [7] Construction on the replacement Arthur Kill station commenced in October 2013, [8] [9] [4] [7] and after several delays opened on January 21, 2017. [10] Once the new station opened, Atlantic closed and demolition followed in May 2017. [11] [12]
Located roughly at Fisher Avenue and Arthur Kill Road on the main line, it was at grade level with side platforms approximately 80 feet (24 m) long that could hold only one car. [9] [7] Former operations before the station closed only had the last car stop at the platform. Prior to its demolition, the station still had pre-1990s SIRT station components—steel corrugated walls, overpasses and original 4-foot (1.2 m)-high station pipe railings with faded signs.
Access to the northbound platform was via the short dead-end Tracy Avenue off of Arthur Kill Road between Fisher and Wood Avenues, while the southbound platform was reached from an entrance on Ellis Street. An overpass linked both platforms; this was the last surviving remnant of the station prior to its demolition in 2022. The Staten Island Railway (SIR) is a railroad line in the New York City borough of Staten Island. It is owned by the Staten Island Rapid Transit Operating Authority (SIRTOA), a subsidiary of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and operated by the New York City Transit Authority Department of Subways. SIR operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, providing local service between St. George and Tottenville, along the east side of the island. There is currently only one line on the island, and there is no direct rail link between the SIR and the New York City Subway system, but SIR riders do receive a free transfer to New York City Transit bus and subway lines, and the line is included on official New York City Subway maps. Commuters on the railway typically use the Staten Island Ferry to reach Manhattan. The line is accessible from within the Ferry Terminal, and most of its trains are timed to connect with the ferry. In 2023, the system had a ridership of 6,151,400, or about 16,600 per weekday as of the third quarter of 2024.
Eltingville Transit Center is a park and ride transit center that is located in Eltingville, Staten Island. It is located at the intersection of Arthur Kill Road and Richmond Avenue, at the end of the Korean War Veterans Parkway. The transit center was completed in 2004. Amenities include schedules, maps, free parking, and vending machines for soda, snacks, and MetroCards. The center is halfway between the Eltingville Staten Island Railway station and the Staten Island Mall, another transit center, including the adjacent Yukon Depot.
The Bay Ridge–95th Street station is the southern terminal station on the BMT Fourth Avenue Line of the New York City Subway. Despite the name, the station is located in the neighborhood of Fort Hamilton at the intersection of 95th Street and Fourth Avenue in southwestern Brooklyn. It is served by the R train at all times. Geographically, this station is the westernmost New York City Subway station.

The Nassau station was a Staten Island Railway station located roughly between the neighborhoods of Tottenville and Charleston, in Staten Island, New York. The station was built sometime after 1924 in order to serve the Nassau Smelting & Refining Company, and had a siding so that freight could be transferred to and from the factory. The station platforms were extended in 1971 as part of the modernization of the rail line. However, the condition of the station deteriorated after the 1990s, and this station, along with the Atlantic station to the south, were replaced by a new station at Arthur Kill Road. When that station opened in January 2017, Nassau station closed. The station was subsequently demolished.

Arlington was a station on the abandoned North Shore Branch of the Staten Island Railway, in Staten Island, New York. Located in an open-cut 5.2 miles (8.4 km) from the St. George Terminal, it had two tracks and one island platform. For a few years before its closure in 1953, it was the western terminus of the North Shore Line; before then, the terminus was the Port Ivory station to the west, though most trains terminated at Arlington. It was located in the Arlington and Mariners Harbor sections of Staten Island, near the Arlington Yard, under the South Avenue overpass, between Arlington Place and Brabant Street.
New Brighton was a station on the abandoned North Shore Branch of the Staten Island Railway. It had two tracks and two side platforms. It was located in the New Brighton section of Staten Island, at the north end of Westervelt Avenue and Richmond Terrace. It was the closest original North Shore station to the Saint George Terminal, 0.7 miles (1.1 km) from the station.
The North Shore Branch is a partially abandoned branch of the Staten Island Railway in New York City, which operated along Staten Island's North Shore from Saint George to Port Ivory. The line continues into New Jersey via the Arthur Kill Vertical Lift Bridge to Aldene Junction in Cranford.
