Atlatlia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. [1] It contains two species, both of which are found in eucalypt forests in Australia. In the males, the seventh segment of the abdomen is extremely elongated, forming a hypopygial peduncle. The name of the genus is derived from atlatl, the Nahuatl word for "spear-thrower", in reference to the male preabdomen which appears to act as an atlatl for the hypopygial peduncle. [1]

Thrypticus Genus of flies

Thrypticus is a genus of long-legged flies in the family Dolichopodidae. There are about 90 described species in Thrypticus. All known larvae of the genus are phytophagous stem-miners of plants in the families Cyperaceae, Poaceae, Juncaceae, and Pontederiaceae. Female adults have a strong, pointed ovipositor used to pierce and insert eggs in the stems of the plants.

Abbemyia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, known from Australia and New Caledonia. It is named after the French entomologist Abbé Octave Parent, who studied the family Dolichopodidae.

Antyx is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae from the Australasian realm. The genus was originally placed in the subfamily Sympycninae, but it was later found to be closer to the Neurigoninae and was placed as incertae sedis within the family. In the World Catalog of Dolichopodidae by Yang et al. (2006), the new subfamily Antyxinae was proposed, in which Antyx is the only genus. However, the validity of this new subfamily was later criticized by Sinclair et al. (2008). According to them, the subfamily's erection by Yang et al. (2006) was not justified by their phylogenetic analysis, and the genus would have been better placed as incertae sedis until a later phylogenetic study determines its placement.

Babindella is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae from Australia. It is the only genus in the subfamily Babindellinae, and is named after Babinda, the type locality. According to Grichanov (2018), there may be no basis for a separate subfamily for Babindella, which is considered to be related to several genera of Medeterinae such as Udzungwomyia.

Corindia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is known from the Afrotropical and Australasian realms, and is closely related to the genus Thrypticus. In Australia, adults of the genus are often found on smooth-barked eucalypt trees, and display a stance similar to that of Medetera. The genus is named after Corindi, a geographical place name of aboriginal origin on the New South Wales northern coast.

Dytomyia is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae. It is known from Australia, Madagascar and Kenya, with an undescribed species from Papua New Guinea.

Yumbera is a genus of flies in the family Dolichopodidae, known from eastern mainland Australia and Tasmania. The generic name is an Australian aboriginal word meaning "fly".
