BSS Sporting Club is a professional football club based in Kolkata, West Bengal. [2] Founded in 2015, the club competes in CFL Premier Division, [3] [4] [5] the top-tier football league in West Bengal organised by Indian Football Association, [6] football governing body of West Bengal. [7]

History

B.S.S. Sporting Club, which started its journey in the year 2015, has already became a pioneer in the Kolkata football circuits. It has created history by becoming champions for consecutive 3 years in the CFL lower divisions, before stepping into the Premier Division. [8]

In 2018–19 season, the club was managed by Arun Kumar Ghosh. [9] In 2019, B.S.S. Sporting participated in Governor's Gold Cup in Sikkim. [10]

B.S.S. Sporting has been participating in the prestigious IFA Shield tournament as well, since 2020. [11] In June 2023, the Indian Football Association (IFA) announced the merger of both Premier Division A and B of the Calcutta Football League ahead of its 125th edition, in which BSS was placed in Group II. [12] [13] [14]

Stadium

Sailen Manna Stadium (also known as Howrah Municipal Corporation Stadium) is club's home stadium, together with Baksha Sporting Association Ground.

The league is divided into two groups – Division A and Division B. The Championship title is awarded only to the Division A winner, while four teams from Division A are relegated to Division B at the end of the season and four teams from Division B are simultaneously promoted to Division A for the next season.
