Diamond Harbour Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Diamond Harbour, West Bengal. It currently competes in the I-League 3, the fourth tier of the Indian football league system and CFL Premier Division. It is also the first tier football league in the state of West Bengal. [1] [2]

History

TMC politician and Diamond Harbour MP Abhishek Banerjee launched the DHFC in 2022. The IFA allowed DHFC to participate in CFL First Division, the third tier of Calcutta Football League. The club then appointed former Mohun Bagan and Kerala Blasters head coach Kibu Vicuña for the upcoming league season. [3] In December 2022, Vicuña left the club and taking charge of another city-based club Mohammedan Sporting. [4]

In June 2023, the Indian Football Association (IFA) announced the merger of both Premier Division A and B of the Calcutta Football League, ahead of its 125th edition, in which Diamond Harbour was placed in the group I. [5] [6] [7] The club then qualified for league's "Super Six" round. [8] Later in August 2023, the club qualified for I-League 3 ahead of the inaugural season kick-off. [9] [10] [11]
