Badminton at the 2024 Summer Paralympics – Qualification

Qualification for badminton at the 2024 Summer Paralympics begins on 1 January 2023 and ends on 31 March 2024. There are expected to be 120 slots (60 male, 60 female) for the sport across sixteen medal events. [1] [2]

Timeline

Eligible athletes have to gain points in order to qualify to compete at the Games, they must participate in a minimum of three qualifying tournaments. The list will be published on 2 April 2024. [3]

Manoj Sarkar is an Indian para-badminton player who lives in Rudrapur City, which is a small city in Uttarakhand, India. He has won 50 international medals in which he have 19 gold medals, 13 silver medals & 18 bronze medals. He is the only Arjun Awardee and Para Olympian Bronze medalist from Uttarakhand. He is awarded by President of India in 2018 by Arjun award. He is supported by the GoSports Foundation through the Para Champions Programme.

Lucas Mazur is a French para-badminton player who competes in international level events. He was the gold medalists in the men's singles SL4 at the 2020 and 2024 Summer Paralympics. He was three-time gold medalists in the World Championships winning the title in 2017, 2019, and 2022.

Indonesia competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan. Originally scheduled to take place in 2020, the Games were rescheduled for 24 August to 5 September 2021, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Qu Zimo is a Chinese wheelchair badminton player. He won two gold medals in para-badminton at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in men's singles WH1 and men's doubles WH1WH2 respectively.

Daniel Bethell is a British para-badminton player. He has a lower limb disability and played his first tournament in 2013. He won silver at the 2020 Summer Paralympics. Bethell is currently ranked world number one in para-badminton men’s singles SL3.

Fredy Setiawan is an Indonesian para-badminton player. He won the bronze medal in the men singles SL4 event of the 2020 Summer Paralympics.

Badminton events have been contested at every Asian Para Games since 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou.

Lee Sam-seop is a South Korean paralympic badminton player. He participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the badminton competition, being awarded the silver medal in the men's singles WH1 event.

Kim Jung-jun is a South Korean para-badminton player. He participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the badminton competition, and won silver medals in the men's singles WH2 event, and the men's doubles WH1–WH2 event, with his teammate, Lee Dong-seop.

Yin Menglu is a Chinese paralympic badminton player. She participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the badminton competition, and won a silver medal in the women's doubles WH1–WH2 event with her teammate, Liu Yutong, and a bronze medal in the women's singles WH1 event.

Hiroshi Murayama is a Japanese paralympic badminton player. He participated at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in the badminton competition, winning the bronze medal in the men's doubles WH1–WH2 event with his teammate, Daiki Kajiwara.

Badminton at the 2024 Summer Paralympics was played at the Porte de La Chapelle Arena in Paris, France, from 29 August to 2 September. There were 16 events, two more than the previous Games; seven events each for men and women and two mixed doubles events.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Charles Noakes</span> Badminton player

Charles Noakes is a French para-badminton player. He competed at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, where he reached the finals of the men's singles SH6 event and won gold after defeating Krysten Coombs of Great Britain.

Mongkhon Bunsun is a Thai para-badminton player. He competed at the 2024 Summer Paralympics, where he won the bronze medal match of the men's singles SL3 event against Daisuke Fujihara.

Osamu Nagashima is a Japanese para-badminton player. He reached the quarter-finals of the men's singles WH1 at the 2020 Summer Paralympics but did not advance to the final four. In the 2024 Summer Paralympics, he was eliminated in the group stages of the men's singles WH1 event. He also reached the semi-finals of the men's doubles WH1–WH2 event with his partner Takumi Matsumoto but eventually lost in the bronze medal match.

Siripong Teamarrom is a Thai para-badminton player. In 2021, he represented Thailand in the men's singles SL4 event and the mixed doubles SL3–SU5 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics.
