Banspani railway station (BSPX) serves Joda Municipality Town, Odisha and it is the smallest railway station of India with only 1 number of platform of 200meter length. Also its a second major iron ore loading station, following Jaroli railway station-the highest iron ore loading station of the Indian Railways. Only two passenger trains Barbil-Puri-Barbil Indian class Intercity Express and Visakhapattnam-Tatanagar-Visakhapattnam Weekly Late Express runs through this station.

Amid a growing demand for shifting of Banspani station to Joda Town of Keonjhar, a delegation of railways visited the proposed new station area at Bachu Hutting in Joda Town on 8 May 2019. Banspani is considered an important railway station under South Eastern Railway in terms of freight services. Now in Joda Nagar New Station will be dedicate for passengers of Joda and Barbil. For the last several years, local people and several outfits have been pressing to shift the station to Bachu Hutting in Joda Town. In 2018, some intellectual and reporters had gone to Delhi and took up the issue with Keonjhar BJP MP Ananta Nayak and higher authorities of Ministry of Railway. Earlier Champua ex-MLA Jitu Pattnaik met officials of SER at Kolkata. A delegation of the Railways led by top officials G.K.Sahu, S.K.Singh took stock of the area from Banspani to Bachu Hutting on 9 May 2019 Thursday and assured the project will be execute soon after being checking of technical aspects. According to Joda Bikash Parishad's president Sushanta Barik, and Joda Municipality Chairman Jagdish Sahoo's announcement in Joda Mahotsav function, the new station's DPR is approved and its now pending for final execution. New direct approach road will be built from Town's main road to the new station. Passengers of both Joda Town and Barbil will feel easy to access the new station in terms of services and green environment. [1]

Joda Town is a small mining camp town, popularly known as Joda Municipality Town or Joda Block, located near Barbil City or Barbil Tahsil which is only 14km away from. Joda Town is surrounded by the well-known Mahendragiri Parvat Shrunkhala- an ancient series of hills described in history of Bharata Varsha and in the epic Ramayana and Mahabharata, which are spread in from Keonjhar to Sundargarh, Koraput, Kandhamal, Rayagada and Visakhapatnam.
