Bashkortostan has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest twice since its debut in 2013. [1] The Bashkir broadcaster, Kuray Television (KTV),was the organiser of the Bashkir entry from 2013 to 2014, in 2015 Tugan Tel TV replaced Kuray Television . [2] In 2013, Bashkortostan's first entry at Turkvision, Diana Ishniyazova, failed to qualify to the grand final.

History

2013

Bashkortostan made their debut in the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 festival, in Eskişehir, Turkey. [1] The Bashkir broadcaster Kuray Television organised the entry selection, which took place on 16 November 2013. [2] A total of 17 singers participated in the national selection. [3] However, the national final was disrupted due to a fire breaking out at the venue during the show. Approximately 1,000 in attendance were evacuated to safety, and as a result, the national final was rescheduled to a later date. [4]

The national selection was rescheduled for 5 December 2013. 17 artists participated, with Diana Ishniyazova being selected to represent Bashkortostan. [5] At the semi-final of Turkvizyon 2013 on 19 December, Bashkortostan performed third, and failed to qualify for the final.

2014

On 20 July 2014 it was announced that Bashkortostan would make their second appearance at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014, due to be held in Kazan, Tatarstan in November 2014. [6] On 9 October 2014 the Bashkir broadcaster made a call for submissions for the contest. [7] A total of 10 submissions were received by the broadcaster for the contest, and out of those submissions 9 singers were selected to go through to the final on 30 October 2014. [8] The winner of the Bashkir national selection was decided by a nine-person jury. The group Zaman won the selection process with their song "Kubair". [9] At the contest, Bashkortostan performed 17th in the semi-final, scoring a total of 193 points and placing 4th, qualifying for the final. They then performed 6th in the final and finished in 3rd with a total of 199 points.

2015

On 16 June 2015 Bashkortostan confirmed that they would participate in Turkvision 2015. [10] The selection process for Bashkortostan was announced on 13 October 2015. The channel in charge of the Bashkir participation changed from Kuray Television to Tugan Tel TV. [11] The selection final was announced on 14 October 2015 as taking place at the Bashkortostan State Concert Hall on 11 November 2015, in which eight singers were selected to compete. [12] Ziliya Bahtieva was selected by a professional jury to represent Bashkortostan in Istanbul. [13] On 20 November 2015 Bashkortostan withdrew from Turkvision 2015, as they were instructed by the Russian Government not to compete in the contest due to the relations between Turkey and Russia at that present time. [14]

2016

On 2 November 2016 Ziliya Bahtieva confirmed that she would represent Bashkortostan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2016. She confirmed that she would not perform the song that she won the regions 2015 selection with. [15] On 25 November 2016 Zilija revealed that she would perform "Donya Mathur" in the Bashkir language. [16] [17] However, Bashkortostan's participation did not materialise due to the cancellation of the 2016 contest.

2020

On 6 December 2020, just two weeks before the 2020 contest, Bashkortostan's participation was confirmed. Ziliya Bahtieva was reselected to represent the region, and her song "Halkyma" was confirmed to be the song she would be participating with on 13 December 2020. [18] At the final, she placed 17th with 174 points.

STRC Altai Mountains, a network owned by All-Russia State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company (VGTRK), have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2013. Artur Marlujokov was the first representative for the Altai Republic at the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Altayym Menin", which qualified from the semifinals, and finished in fifth place, achieving one-hundred and eighty-nine points in the grand final.

The participation of Azerbaijan in the Turkvision Song Contest first began in Eskişehir, Turkey, at the inaugural edition of the Turkvision Song Contest in 2013. Azad Azerbaijan TV (ATV) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants, since their debut in 2013. Farid Hasanov was the first representative for Azerbaijan at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Yaşa", which qualified from the semifinals and won the contest, achieving two-hundred and ten points in the grand final. Azerbaijan continued to participate in the contest, and sent Elvin Ordubadli as their representative in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014, with the song "Divlərin yalnızlığı", which finished in ninth place, achieving 177 points in the grand final.

Belarus has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 3 times since its debut in 2013. Details regarding the Belarusian broadcaster which organises Belarus' entry are unknown. In 2013, Belarus' first entry at Turkvision, Gunesh Abasova, qualified from the semi-final, and placed 2nd in the final achieving 205 points.

Tatarstan has competed in the Turkvision Song Contest three times. The region debuted in the inaugural 2013 contest, and hosted the 2014 contest in Kazan. Tatarstan did not participate in 2015, though they returned in 2020. Apart from the 2020 contest, Tatarstani broadcaster Maidan Television (MTV) has always organised a national final to select their entry.

The Turkvision Song Contest 2014 was the second edition of the Turkvision Song Contest, which took place in Kazan in the region of Tatarstan. Twenty-four Turkic regions, which have either a large Turkic population or a widely spoken Turkic language, confirmed their participation, making it the largest contest exceeding the participation number for the 2013 contest whereas four European countries made their debut. Altai Republic, Belarus, Kemerovo, Kosovo, and Northern Cyprus withdrew from the contest. The semi final took place on 19 November 2014 and the final took place on 21 November 2014. The presenters of the contest were Artem Shalimov, Narmin Agaeva, and Ranil Nuriov.

Albania has participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 3 times since their debut in the 2014 contest in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Radio Televizioni Shqiptar (RTSH) have been responsible for the selection process of their participants since their debut in 2014. Xhoi Bejko was the first representative for Albania at the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 with the song "Hava ve Ates", which failed to qualify from the semi-finals, finishing in nineteenth place and achieving 154 points. Albania continued to participate in the contest, and sent Xhoi Bejko and Visar Rexhepi as their representatives in the Turkvision Song Contest 2015, with the song "Adi Hasret", which finished in eighth place, receiving the same total of points as in their previous participation.

The Turkvision Song Contest 2015 was the third edition of the Turkvision Song Contest, which took place in Istanbul, Turkey; and organised by Turkish Music Box Television (TMB). A total of twenty-one Turkic regions, which have either a large Turkic population or a widely spoken Turkic language, participated in the contest, as well as one Turkic ethnic groups who do not have a defined region. There was no semi-final this year, whilst the final took place on 19 December 2015.

Bashkortostan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Kuray Şarkısı", performed by Diana Ishniyazova. The Bashkir entry for the 2013 contest in Eskişehir, Turkey was selected through a national final organised by Bashkir broadcaster Kuray Television (KTV). The national final consisted of seventeen competing acts participating in a televised production where the winner was be determined by 100% votes of jury members made up of music professionals. Ishniyazova failed to qualify from the semi-finals of the contest.

The Bashkir entry was selected through a national final organised by Bashkir broadcaster Kuray Television (KTV). Zaman won the national final and went on to represent Bashkortostan in the contest, qualifying from the semi-final and finishing in third place in the grand final with the song "Kubair".

Azerbaijan participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2015 which took place in Istanbul, Turkey. Azad Azerbaijan TV (ATV) was responsible for organising their entry for the contest. Mehman Tağıyev won the national final, Azerbaycan`ın Sesi, on 29 September, earning the right to represent Azerbaijan in the contest. On 8 October, his song, "Istanbul" was internally selected. Azerbaijan placed 7th with 155 points.

Kyrgyzstan participated in, and won, the Turkvision Song Contest 2015 in Istanbul, Turkey. The song "Kim bilet", performed by Jiidesh İdirisova, was selected as the Kyrgyzstani entry for the contest in a national final.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Turkvision Song Contest 2020</span> 4th Turkvision Song Contest

The Turkvision Song Contest 2020 was the fourth edition of the Turkvision Song Contest. It took place in Istanbul, Turkey, with performances filmed remotely, and organised by Turkish Music Box Television.

Turkey participated in the Turkvision Song Contest 2014 in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. Turkish broadcaster TRT Avaz was responsible for the country's participation in the contest. The song "Hoppa", performed by Funda Kılıç, was internally selected as the Turkish entry for the contest. The song qualified from the semi-final and placed 15th (last) in the final.
